I'm not entirely sure which topic to post this under but crashes seems to be a half decent shot.
So I built this PC around 4 months ago now and it was working perfectly fine with no issues up until around 1-2 weeks ago when suddenly it just decides to restart while I'm using it.
At the time I was running Chrome, Discord, and a game. It booted up and I logged back in and nothing seems out of the ordinary, I opened back up my programs and continued as a I was for around 20 minutes when it decided to restart again. This time upon logging back in I ran an antivirus (or two) which came up without any issues. Since then a day hasn't really passes without some number of restarts, ranging between 1 up to over 10 in the space of an hour.
Around a week ago the problem developed further. I booted it up and after 5 seconds it restarted, and continued to loop that for around 2 minutes. I googled the problem and it appeared to lie with the RAM. Following a site, I opened up the case and cleaned my 8GB RAM, reinserted it, and it ran smoothly for around 20 minutes when it decided to restart. Back to square 1.
I've had no serious problems like the one above since then, however the frequency of the restarts is increasing and is starting to hinder my use of the machine. Even while typing this post I've had around 5 restarts from when I started making my account until this sentence as I type it.
I should probably mention that I have a very low budget build, sitting around £650 in total.
I'll list the ones I expect to come up:
GTX 1050
Intel i5-8400
8GB RAM
I've googled the problem many times and reasons I've seen in other posts and articles include viruses and overheating parts. I've checked viruses with Avast and Malwarebytes with no problems, and for temperature I was at one point looking at my monitor (CPUID HWMonitor) when it restarted which displayed normal temperatures (around the 20s-30s)
Another solution offered was to turn off Automatically Restart which was said to take me to a error message when the PC crashes. However I enabled this and the PC continues to restart without error messages. I've run the sfc /scannow command in command prompt, scanned for hardware issues which Win10 said it'd fixed around a week ago, and updated drivers. All went smoothly and the restarts still happen.
If anyone has any idea why this could be happening, please could they help. It's worth noting this is my first build, and I doubt I did it flawlessly, which is most likely going to be the issue, however it's taken 4 months to start having problems which is what's confusing me.
Thank you,
everways
