Yes create a folder called drivers.
Once installed before attaching 2nd drive.
Test boot performance.
Also check how much disk space used and how much free space.

All booted up now. Free space is 96.7gb

Boot seems pretty good. Still sitting in minimum state after install. What now?

I'm going to assume it's okay to restore the drivers that I backed up. Hdd 1tb also back in laptop. Nothing downloaded yet until you comment, last boot time was fine.

Hope these errors are something to do with drivers and nothing on the motherboard. I can't get the video to pass to my monitor.

Sorry had to go to work.
Yes driver issue
Machine working after all drivers installed.
Next step
Update windows - only after all drivers installed.
After windows update how much free space.

yes those issues are from the motherboard drivers not being loaded.

did you install Driver Easy and use that to update the missing drivers???

Yes, I ended up paying for the yearly pro package, I guess they made it difficult to do it one by one on purpose.

21 drivers it updated ij total but it gave me an error message for 4x Intel updates.

Main game is Game of Thrones winter is coming, mainly through steam but also through 1 or 2 others on a minor level to access different accounts. Other than that I play civ6 now and again and I dip into football manager from time to time, that's it.

I tried it, went to restore, it asked me to browse, I went to the flash drive folder and it really wasn't clear what to do. On the site it seemed to come up with what drivers were backed up but didn't do that on mine. It's no problem, it was my choice not influenced by your post.

This is where you start to come to balance act.
Update window now and see what free space you have.
Current 96GB - 7 GB for install of GOT =89GB -4gig for CiV6 = 85gb free - 7Gb for football manager = 78GB free - 5GB for steam
= 73GB Free.
Then Future windows updates need a minimum of 32GB free all the time .
73 - 32 = 41GB free.
That is not counting the space window updates take up- average 3gb
As you can see you will soon be out of space and back to where you started from.

Time to start and save for a larger M2 drive in my opinion.
@Bruce

Try one at a time
I would put steam on 118 drive.
Some programs will let you install on E drive some won't.
If it lets you install GOT on E try it and see how it plays.
E drive may be to slow to play.
I do not game so I do not know how it will affect the game
