What are you planning on doing with the system?

What I would honestly do if the system can take bigger M2 replace that and install the OS on the M2 and use the HDD for storage.

all I'll add is, if it was mine, and I had no money, I'd at least get the OS onto the SSD.
if I had a bit of money, I'd get a bigger SSD prior to installing the OS.
of course, other factors may need considering, chiefly, is the rig worth the investment, however modest it may be.

You can try turning on fast start up
ps. First, open the Windows Control Panel. Next, go to the Power Options screen. When there, select the Choose What the Power Button Does option. Finally, click the checkbox for Turn on Fast Startup and hit save.

I already had fast boot up selected in the power settings and I disabled 2 things from startup in task manager. 1) Windows security notification and 2) GitHub (??) update

Just going to see what that does and I'll report back.

Pardon my ignorance but why can I only see 1 hard drive? Or am I missing something glaringly obvious.

Probably since you are use to seeing drives that ae like the one at the bottom of the image you have posted.

They now make what are known a M.2 NVMe this is located above and to the left of the RAM.

Ah okay, I knew it would be there somewhere 😂 let me load the laptop back up and I'll read through recommendations

Okay so my options are

- Reboot windows onto SSD
- Possibly buy a new SSD to replace current one

Anything else for me to consider?

I advised to put it on the larger drive as it has more space.
If you look at the maths in post #97 it explains why.
When I looked at the manual it said your machine could have 2 M2 drives.
Remember I asked if you could open up and check before we started the re install of windows.
If you want it to boot faster.
Power of
Remove larger drive
install windows on M2 120gb
Power off and re insert larger drive.
You will need to then watch everything you install or you will run out of space again.
Low space is what started this thread.

I wasn't critising, sorry if it sounded like I was. So should I back up drivers, remove 1tb drive, boot to small drive, put 1tb back in, and see where that takes us? Any steps missing?
