Hi. I updated my xps 1647 to Windows 10 with no issues. When trying to upgrade to 8 gig ram (2x4gig sticks) but it doesn't seem to want to work. I bought the same make as the RAM that was already in the laptop. I've had to put the 2 gig sticks back in. Any help would be great.

MiniToolBox Scan

Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:

Flush DNS
Reset FF proxy Settings
Reset Ie Proxy Settings
Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)

Click Go post the result.

Will the machine not boot with the new ram installed?
No. Won't boot up at all. When I use one of the 1 gig sticks with a 4 gig stick it will only recognise the 1 gig. It comes up with your pc hasn't booted up properly it will auto restart. Then it just keeps rebooting.

Also, can you post a picture of the new ram modules here... Then run a scan at crucial to see if they are indeed compatible...

Sounds like incompatible ram, or your motherboard will only support lower ram, run the crucial scan as suggested and let us know.

It's the same make that's already in my laptop.
