I don’t know man. I am reading somethings that say you can’t install a 64 bit OS on a 32 bit system. However, this windows is 64 bit and the system information for the PC shows me an x86 which I thought meant 32 bit. I am about ready to give up. This is becoming more trouble than it is worth.

In your pics you gave me the device for the video I need the same for the network card.
Deep breath - walk away if needed and come back.

I installed xp 32 bit. but I will say that I found a service tag on this PC and was able to look it up on Dell’s site. I found the exact drivers I need from them but again, they are all in exe form and when I try to execute them I get the win32 error.

Can you open a command / Dos Prompt and type sfc /scannow press enter NB there is a space between sfc and the slash
IF that runs when finished at the dos prompt chkdsk C: /f /r press enter

The first appeared to run correctly and finished. No command prompt came up so I brought one up and typed in what you said and it said path not found

this windows is 64 bit
I installed xp 32 bit

Ok which do we have 32 or 64 ?

If you have Windows XP, there are two methods to determine whether you are running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version. If one does not work, try the other.
Method 1: View System Properties in Control Panel
[ol]
[li]Click Start, and then click Run.[/li][li]Type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.[/li][li]Click the General tab. The operating system is displayed as follows:[/li][li]For a 64-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> appears under System.[/li][li]For a 32-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional Version < Year> appears under System.[/li][/ol]
Method 2: View System Information window
[ol]
[li]Click Start, and then click Run.[/li][li]Type winmsd.exe, and then click OK.[/li][li]When System Summary is selected in the navigation pane, locate Processor under Item in the details pane. Note the value.[/li][li]If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with x86, the computer is running a 32-bit version of Windows.[/li][li]If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with ia64 or AMD64, the computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows.[/li][/ol]
If it is 64 that could be our problem
