Please re-visit the BIOS. Navigate to Keyboard/Mouse, ensure TrackPoint is enabled, and save changes by hitting F10 and rebooting.

Check and see if it’s working. If not:

In the device manager, right-click the Synaptic Pointing Device and remove or uninstall it. Reboot. Windows should automatically re-install the driver.

Once you do the above, if it still doesn’t work, you’ll install the latest Hotkey software. I read that it can cause issues with the TrackPad.

You’ll need to check and ensure you haven’t accidentally disabled the trackpad with a Function (Fn) key combo.

I have checked bios and both tack point and touchpad have been enabled - Didn’t work
Reinstalled the driver through windows update- Didn’t work
made sure I got the latest hotkey software- Didn’t work

as for the function key combo, my keyboard doesn’t seem to have a key combo to disable the touchpad. - Didn’t work

I haven’t seen IRQ conflicts since Windows 98.

Some of my mates from across the pond will be on later. I’ll ask them for help. I’m starting to think it might be mechanical/hardware. Then again, why are the settings greyed out in the driver?
Thanks for the quick responses and being patient.

no idea why they’re greyed out . Thank you for taking your time to help and do let me know if you need anything else.

have you by chance plugged either a wireless or wired mouse into the laptop.
If yes remove it and test.
