Ps/2 touchpad Does not respond but is detected by bios

Δ° have a Thinkpad p50 and the touchpad used to work fine but after(i think) the computer showed a notification about how the battery cannot function due to normal wear and tear the mouse stopped working, and I’ve checked it in both windows and in the lenovo diagnostics panel and it shows that it is detected but the touchpad does not respond to touch or clicking mouse(above touchpad) buttons.
I’ve tried resetting bios to default and in windows I’ve tried reinstalling driver but nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any clue on why this could be happening?

Δ°f you need anymore information please let me know.

Are you getting the driver from your Thinkpads page or from Windows Update?

Please make a backup image of your drive before making any changes.

Download and install the latest firmware.

                    Reboot

Install the latest Intel Chipset Device Software for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad P50, P70

                    Reboot

Once you complete the above, Open your Device Manager. You may have to drag the window to catch all the devices. Take a screenshot and post it in your next reply.
