Okay, I got the applications folder copied over. Probably donβt need that one. Then I got this error. I donβt even recognize it as anything of mine. Should I hit skip on ones I donβt recognize and see if I can push through?
Yes, I think we were successful. still on Mac though. βlibraryβ folder taking FOREVER and I donβt think it is stuff I need. Maybe cancel the transfer so I can try on my other computer? what is with this library folder?
operating files etc.
I have to go out for a couple of hours.
Let me know if you can read the data and i will post next steps.
You should only try and copy stuff you need

I think you did it! can we follow-up in a few days or this weekend? I have some lingering questions but I think you got the important thing done. I am mentally drained. talk soon, I owe you. will PM you
Hey guys! I no longer get email notification there is a message here. It did at the start and then stopped. Thatβs why I did not know you were closing thread. Not sure why it stopped. but yes I got the files!
Peter OZ did you get my IM?
is there any reason, nostalgic reason, anything I would not know, why I should not just put Ubuntu on my Mac now since not supported for years? If I ever wanted to MacOs back, does that stuff live on forever in a download on the internet? Wouldnβt I maximize useful life even more by putting Ubuntu on it?
is there a streamlined way to backup files on this New SSD so I donβt keep saving duplicates or forget to save stuff? or just manually save stuff to computer and then always have this drive handy to put copy on? seems tedious
off topic, can I ask another question, on my new computerβ¦it was supposed to have windows but I put Ubuntu on it. My new computer is supposed to have Bluetooth but in the Ubuntu OS I am not able to turn Bluetooth on like it doesnβt exist? I will post link to my new computer. What do you think of the specs of my new computer? any good? doesnβt all the stuff get made in the same factories? should I not have bought this cheaper brand?

Ubuntu should run fine. Boot again with ubuntu and use the try again and give it a spin.
It might be a little bit slower as you are running it from a usb, but at least you can test that everything is running as you like and
everything works.

Not on the Apple store.
You could either fix the current install and install Ubuntu as a dual boot.
You could fix the current install and then clone the image or make a time machine image and use that to return to Mac.

If you purely return to Mac you can use Time Machine.
If you run Ubuntu it has a backup program
OR
You can just use a sync program.

Ubuntu may not have a driver for that computer.

You need to backup to more than 1 drive if your stuff is important to you.
Just thought of another idea if you want a fall back to mac after ubuntu.
Repair the current install so you can access the app store.
Then download High Sierra install dmg to a usb stick and keep it.

This stinks, I donβt know what happened to my post the other day. I must not have uploaded it
It seems like I might want to fix the current Mac OS and sort of delete files and reset it. I never really understood what was wrong with it? It just kept forcing me to try to update it. I think last support for it was Circa 2018ish? so is there a way to freshen it up with the most up to date Mac OS it can handle?
Then it sounds like I can also run Ubuntu in a split fashion?
Is it true that with an old system like mine it might run more efficiently, or as good as it can be, with ubuntu over the MacOS?
