I tried removing 1 ram at a time, leaving 1 in each time, and no change. I've just noticed that after a couple of minutes the laptop turns back of/goes into sleep mode with no light on the power button.
Could this be a hard drive failure? Ive never had that happen so I'm not sure what that looks like.Or would hard resetting the bios be a fix?
Im guessing the issue was never the screen since I couldn't plug it into an external monitor and replacing the cable didn't work. I was hoping the cable would have been the issue, it would have been such an easy fix.(n)

Something may have been shorted out on this particular occasion.

Is this when on battery/adapter only power or both, such behaviour is often caused by a break in a MBs soldered circuit when the MB gets hot and expands thus breaking the connection in the soldered circuit.

If it were a HDD issue you would still get the BIOS options as they are stored on the MBs BIOS chip + you would also get a boot error message on the screen.

By hard resetting the BIOS do you mean by pulling the CMOS battery, it is not likely to help but no harm in trying, looks like you need to remove the keyboard to do so though.
 
I've tried just the battery, then just the adapter, then both, it turned on every time. Im not quite sure what to try next. And i have to research how to take out the keyboard carefully. I'll try any suggestions at this point if it doesn't require buying a new motherboard.
Does my laptop have a magnetic on and off switch, could that be broken? Would that cause this?

Easiest to do first, see if you can get a known good stick of RAM for testing purposes only, integrated graphics devices rely on system RAM to function and if the RAM is bad you will not get any display, based on that you have since told us that the computer shuts down after a few minutes this is a long shot but always like to be thorough.
 
I only have the ones in my desktop, which I assume are not going to fit.
How would I find the magnetic on and off switch? Ive never bothered to own a laptop before this one so im really clueless.
 
Desktop RAM is not compatible with notebook motherboards.

Sorry but not with you, what magnetic switch are you referring to.
 
The switch that tells the laptop if the screen is lowered or open, if the laptop is shut or closed.
 
Thought that was what you meant but was confused as it has not been mentioned before.

Not all notebooks are the same but a common location is just in front left or right of the hinges on the base of the notebook.

So the front of the keyboard doesn't seem to come off, you just move the motherboard out of the way in the back I guess. I have no clue what im looking for, under the motherboard is nothing, and above it towards the hinges are just the wifi card and 2 batteries, one I assume is for the bios, and dont know what the other is for, they're both on the other side of the speakers. It would be real helpful if these companies started labeling all the components. Or provided a map of its insides. :sneaky:

One was in one of the other pictures, I thought I got the the other one. Oops, the batteries are connected to each other by wires, each in the same spot on opposite sides of the base. Then they both plug into the same spot on the motherboad.

They look like your speakers to me, some examples of where and what the CMOS battery can look like here
 
Thanks, im not seeing any other batteries though. And any other circular shaped objects are soldered to the motherboard.

right next to the copper metal thing. Just a random question.
None of the guides or videos I keep finding are helping at all. Its either stuff you guys have already suggested to try, something that isnt my problem or a thing that doesn't exist in my laptop. Why do laptops have to be so diverse in how things are placed inside! :confused:

Odd, there has got to be a CMOS battery somewhere.

Got an early start so calling it a day now but will check back tomorrow some time.
