    New pc build crashing in game

    Cpu:AMD ryzen 5 3600
    Mobo:Gigabyte x570 gaming x
    Ram:2x8gb ram corsair
    Gpu:Gigabyte geforce gtx 1650 windforce
    Ssd: samsung 500gb
    Psu:evga supernova 650g+

    So I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure this problem out. My games keep crashing randomly. Sometimes its after just a couple minutes and theres been times I’ve been able to play for a few hours. Although lately it hasnt made it more then half an hour before crashing. When it crashes the screen usually goes all white and the sound freezes. I have to manually shutdown and restart the computer.

    All the parts are brand new and all drivers are up to date. I took back the gpu and swapped it for another brand new one and still same problem. I ran memtest on the ram with 0 errors. I originally had the corsair cx650m and swapped to the brand new evga, still crashes. I’ve completely formatted the ssd and reinstalled windows 10 and all the drivers, still same issues.

    I just dont understand, I’ve run multiple stress tests and nothing will cause the computer to crash until I try a game. The games I have are cs go, star craft 2 and apex legends. Cs and sc will crash every time whereas apex hasnt ever crashed for me. I haven’t played it that much though because for some reason origin thinks I’m offline.
    Anyways if anyways can help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Anybody at all? I downloaded pubg and was able to play that for a couple hours without a crash. Cs go seems to work fine in the casual mode but in competitive it crashes right away…
    I’ve tried clocking back the cpu to 3000 and cs still crashed

        How do the games preform if the system is not over clocked at all?

          They perform quite well. Theres no sign of a crash coming.

          I should add that pubg also crashes in me.

            Since the games run and do not crash then overclocking the system is the issue.

            Overclocking computers causes then to run very hot and can over work the components.

            @Bruce and @phillpower2 may have more information as well when they arrive.

              But the system isnt overclocked… and the only time it does crash is in games…

              I’ve also kept an eye on the temps of everything while gaming and they all stay within range. Although I havent ever been looking right at the temps at the exact time of crash because it’s so random and hard to predict.

                Sorry about the misunderstanding I took the following to mean the system to be over clocked and you were trying lower clocking speeds to find one that worked.

                Does this only happen during game play online or offline as well.

                Does this also happen if you are watching videos or music online?

                Lets try a clean boot and see if there are any improvements

                  Yeah I was playing starcraft campaign mode and it crashes. I will try the clean boot when I get home. After clean boot will I be able to load a game?
                  It only crashes in games. I havent watched many videos though… I did run the unigine valley benchmark and no issues

                      There is no need to quote the message all you need to do is type your message in the text box below. :giggle:

                      How was windows 10 installed or updated? Where did the media used to install come from?

                      A clean boot is just the start of diagnosing the issue.

                      While the system is running under a clean boot try running the game and see if it works then we can go onto the next steps.

                      What you need to do now is go back into clean boot then select just one of the apps that has been closed and re-enable it. Then restart and see how things are.
                      If things still work then re-enable one more app and keep doing this until you find the one that is causing the slowdown.
                      Once you know which app it is, disable this from the startup permanently.
                      It’s a bit of a slow process, but it’s the only way to see what is the problem app.

                        So my windows 10 was download from Microsoft onto a usb flash drive. I should note that it’s not licensed yet. I bought an actual windows 10 usb from amazon because at the time I didnt think I’d have access to another computer to make the usb drive myself. Anyways the license should he here any day now so I can register it. Dont think this would cause the crashing issue though..

                        Nvidia support suggested this

                        a) Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D settings.
                        b) Go to Program Settings tab.
                        c) Add the .exe of the game clicking on Add button →
                        d) Now change the following
                        • change the ‘Power Management Mode’ to ‘Prefer Maximum Performance’.
                        • Threaded optimization – off
                        • Triple buffering – off
                        • Vertical sync – off
                        • Maximum pre rendered frames – 3
                          Now click on Apply and test the games.

                        I did this and loaded up pubg. I thought the problem was fixed. I was able to play for almost 2 hours. Then it crashed again. Not sure if this made it more playable or if I got lucky.
                        Anyways I’m going to try this clean boot sometime tonight or tomorrow and see how that goes

                          Thank you for keeping us informed. After what Nvidia support suggested and after a reboot did you attempt any games after that and what were the results.

                          Was that the only game that you attempted?

                          With the fact that this is only happening during game play I also am going to ask that @phillpower2 have a look and assist you on running some stress test on the system.

                            So after the reboot I was able to play pubg for a couple hours without a crash. But eventually it did crash again. It’s really the only game that I have to try and starcraft. Starcraft hasnt crashed on me since I put the v-sync on

                              There looks to be something going on with either the DIMM slots on the MB or the RAM itself.

                              What two slots on the MB do you have the two sticks of RAM populating.

                              Download Speedfan and install it. Once it’s installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
                              If you are running on a vista machine, please go to where you installed the program and run the program as administrator.
