    Help!

Hi there. I recently bought a PC from a friend, it’'s a few years old and when I’m running Fortnite (the only game I have atm) it sounds like Heathrow airport and I drop frame rates all the time. The noise my CPU fan (I think) makes is ridiculous. Just wondered if there’s anything I could do to help this matter. I’ve cleaned it out and did get rid of a lot of dust but still not totally resolving it. I’ve been told before on this forum my PSU is too weak is that the only issue? Here are my specs for those that can make sense of it. Thanks!

I have all these specs do I not? This is why I’m wondering why it’s not running smoothly.

        Hi,

What is the make and model of the power supply that the computer has?

Is it only the CPU fan that is really loud that you have verified as being overly noisy?

If the CPU fan is noisy and you have cleaned it, next step is to replace it.

A Corsair 450w. Not sure if there is different versions or not. Yeah I’m pretty certain it’s just the CPU fan that’s going crazy. Mostly when I play games and/or try to stream. Going to sleep as I’m in the UK but will reply in the morning. Appreciate the help.

Ok what is the model of the Corsair unit? There are different Corsair units and not all of them are of high quality.

The Value Series so I’m taking it that’s not good.
Also the CPU and GPU are getting no where near their max temps before crashing. Albeit they’ve not crashed in a while but by the sounds of the fans they’re not far off.

The previous Speccy report here shows that the RAM was working in dual channel whereas the latest report says that it is only working in single channel. this suggests that the RAM is not in the correct slots on the MB which is reducing performance by 50%.

The voltages in the later Speccy report have also dropped a bit lower.

I think I’ve tried every RAM combo under the sun there and it still says single channel (or it beeps continuously).

Odd. it was working fine a week ago as you can see in the previous Speccy report, if you haven’t moved it all since your last thread something is badly amiss.

Yeah I’m not quite getting it. It’s acknowledging that two slots are taken. I tried with only one and it said 8GB single channel DDR3 and with two it says 16GB single channel DDR3

So the RAM had not been removed from the MB at all between the posting of the first and second Speccy report.

I’ll be honest I did move it but I can’t remember if that was before or after I sent the original report. Any way of checking where it should be or enabling dual channel? I have done a factory reset since then as well just to clear all the rubbish.

Come to think of it I’m sure it was after because after I got the screen to go on I’ve not touched it.
