is there any cable plugged into the WAN port or COAX port?
and if there are any in the ethernet ports, where do they go to?

so it sounds like the G3100 is just your wifi router and the box in the shed is the internet modem.
that should be rebooted as well if not already done to get you fully up to date with what Mal has previously suggested.

Yes’ Ive tried resetting it multiple times as well as unplugging it for ~10 mins.

as to your internet issues, it would be good to get the Signal to Noise ratio value and attenuation figure off the modem, you’ll have to log on to it’s config page by using it’s IP address.

also go to speedtest.net to check your ping and speed.

otherwise talk to your internet provider, they should be able to do a noise check on the line to see if it meets their minimum service levels.

I dont see any way to check SNR or Attenuation figure without calling my isp. As for my download speeds, theyre perfectly fine. I get just under 1gbps normally and my ping is low as well. In my game I set it to only match my closest server (20ms) and the problems are just are present as they are on a 150ms server.

In fact I’d rather play on 150ms without this problem than 20ms with this problem! That’s how frustrating it is.

fair enough, you only need to worry about SNR and attenuation in the line if you want to investigate the finer details of lagging, FPS drops, DNS timeouts, etc.
for example, you may be getting 1Gbps, but if two out of every three data packets are getting lost, then there’s an issue. (y)

Have you set a static IP with this tool?

                      Simple Static IP
Also set your best DNS server after setting the Static IP

I havent set a static IP. Do you want me to set it for my PC or for my router?
I did find my best DNS server, but when I changed it (I tried it in both the router settings as well as in Windows) it didnt actually change. No matter what I set it to, in command prompt it would show up as my default gateway. The only thing that helped change it was the batch file that was posted earlier in this thread. So Ill try changing it in Windows again but it might not work… I might need to edit the batch file and run it again, but I still dont know why it wouldnt just let me change it…

I’ll try both of these and report back.

Just set it for your PC.

Also, in the instruction guide. It shows how to change the dns server via command prompt if you read the guide fully. That is how the batch file is changing it.

Damn. I was just about to change my DNS server again but in command prompt it lists my default gateway again… It seems to do this automatically every couple of days. Any idea why this would happen? I can definitely change it but Im gonna have to do it every other day…

Perhaps windows updates, I am not sure, but we can put a batch file in the windows startup that will change/ensure that; that dns server is being used. But first lets see how a static ip and the best dns server combo does via your gameplay.

When I run the batch file (I changed the DNS servers in the file to my best ones, per DNSBench) it says β€œValue DisabledComponents exists, overwrite(Yes/No)?”

                                I’m assuming yes?
