    Email Intermittently Not Being Sent

I have a problem over about the past ten days with email not being sent. I use Outlook as the front end and Yahoo-ATT.net as the back end. Emails will be sent and then suddenly the next email won’t be sent. I repeat the process of cancelling the sending, opening the email and trying to send it again. After doing this four or five times the email is sent. And them the next few emails go without a problem. Virus/malware/spyware scans have been run.

I Googled Yahoo support (they don’t have any anymore ) and found a third-party website Contact Email Support, advertising Yahoo ATT email support. He started a session on my machine, did some footwork in DOS, displayed a list of something with IP addresses, some weren’t mine and said my email was hacked and therefore Yahoo was delaying my email sometimes. Frankly, I wasn’t comfortable with his fast analysis. He then β€œrecommended” an β€œanti-hacking Level-6 network certified engineer” Right Tech Solution who would β€œun-hack” my machines and install β€œ7 layer online network security v6.2” to protect it. I spoke to someone from there. He may be legitimate but he sounded very smooth. It would cost $400 ($500 if I delayed and he had to do the β€œdiagnosis” that the 3rd party had done all over again).
And I couldn’t find and reviews of his company in Google. I am not at all comfortable with this, nor sure if I should even believe the β€œhacking diagnosis”.

I would appreciate any advice, suggestions or comments about the problem and about how to go about determining to whom to go to analyze and fix whatever the issue is.
    Thank you

Do NOT pay. You were involved in a scam. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, involve any further with him or that company. They are scam artists.

Now that that’s out of the way

What email provider are you trying to send the mail to? Are you getting any bounce emails, invalid address emails, etc?

Thank you for your quick reply and very clear advice I am sending it through https://att.yahoo.com If I let the email go nowhere for a minute or two (i.e. I don’t cancel it) I get the error message I uploaded. Nothing about bouncing as Outlook and Yahoo can’t make a connection. But after being persistent it eventually connects and is sent, then other emails, for a while, go fine until it happens again.

Your error specifies that SSL is not supported by the outbound server. You need to use a non-SSL port. This will either be:
          [ICODE]Port 110 for POP3[/ICODE]
          or
          [ICODE]Port 143 for IMAP[/ICODE]

Since you stated this I will strongly suggest that you have our Security Team check your system for any back doors were left where they could access your machine. There is no telling what else they did while they were in your machine.[/color]

              jmarket -
But the SSL port has worked perfectly for years. Even now it works 80%-90% of the time. I’ve attached the ATT settings webpages which say to use those ports with SSL.

              Rustys-
I will gladly take your suggestion. I don’t have logs to upload there. Avast and Malwarebytes came back clean. Superantispyware found one trojan and deleted it. I will try to follow the Prework instructions but there aren’t any helpful images, though it shows in the instructions. Will your security team also be able to determine if there is a key logger in my machine?[/B]

Before we get to far into reconfiguring your email for right now lets let the Security Team do their thing this way we do not interfere with that.

Do you have another system that you can check your email on or you can always check you email through web based on the ATT site.

I can go directly to Yahoo-ATT but if there is a key-logger hiding on my machine I’m afraid to do that - or go anywhere where I have to enter a userid & password. I know the Security Team is volunteering their time and have β€œreal jobs” but do you have an idea of when they could get to look at that thread with the data?

                      Thanks..

Now that I’ve restored a backup from before the guy got on my machine so the machine should (I hope) be clean, I would appreciate any help with this email issue. About every third email is having this problem. After I get that error message (above), I go to the Outbox, open the email and send it again. The second time it works.

                        Thank you

It’s now happening on at least every other email - sometimes on every email.

Since you did a restore have you ran Windows Updates?
There may be one for Outlook that may correct this also double check the email setting to make sure they are correct.

                              Greetings User101,
Try this for me. Open Outlook then click Tools - Account Settings then high lite the account name then click Repair. I have Yahoo mail thru ATT.net and have seen your issue many times. As for support for Yahoo Mail they depend on their Community Forums for this.
