Due to the issues we've had, your password will need to be reset. Please click the button that says "Forgot Your Password" and change it. We are working to have things back to normal. Thanks, what that unfortunately means is that the data is corrupt or the drive broken.

How many GB is the stick and how much free storage space was on it, what has happened to you can be caused by the storage device being full and the data on the drive starts to get overwritten.

Plenty of free space on it then.

We have one more option to try, after that it is paying a data recovery service or tossing the drive in the trash.

Do you have a couple more empty USB flash drives, one must be at least 16GB but the other one can be 1GB or above.

If there was between 5 and 9GB free on the drive that has gone bad you should be ok to use what you have.

Try booting from Linux on USB to see if that can detect any of the data on the bad flash drive, if it does, you can transfer the data over to your other spare USB thumbdrive.

Everything you need to know about Linux on a USB thumbdrive here

Not used it for a while but when I do I use Puppy Linux, a newer version than the one I have but see tutorial here

Update: The usb is probably broken, on linux it didn't showed too, so rip data. Thanks for the help, that we tried everything, you best :3 You may close the thread now.

Sorry to hear that but thank you for letting us know.

Time to get yourself an external dive for backing up to, painful way to learn a valuable lesson though :(
