I think I may also update the BIOS version first or can I do that after the DBAN operation.


You will need to update the bios through the operating system, meaning you will need to do this before you wipe the HDD. I'd suggest doing the update. :)
 
Hope you don't mind me butting in here, but the last BIOS update for that board was in 2009. It really is ancient and probably time to move on to something less prehistoric. Having said that I have installed Windows 10 on a P35 chipset Gigabyte socket 775 motherboard. Although there was no support for anything beyond Windows 7, as is the case with your mobo, the install of Windows 10 made all functions work without issues.
 
Many thanks Guys No going to upgrade this board as it is too old and can spend same amount of money on a newer machine.
