Hi. I bought a streaming computer two years ago but I didn't have a chance to stream with it since then. I had only planned on streaming console games at that point so I didn't go for anything that would handle a PC game. I want to start streaming from it in the next few months. I want to start with some console games and at some point move to a few PC games, including Red Dead Redemption 2 (I have it through Epic.) I was testing to see what the CPU and Memory usage is while I have OBS and RDR2 running at the same time. I can't remember what the CPU was but the memory was bad and pretty much sat between 80% to 90%. RDR2 was also choppy in OBS but it looked fine on the game screen. I think I need better/more RAM but like most people can't afford to spend a ton. I'll give the specs of everything I have and was wondering if someone could help me to figure out what the best RAM for it may be for my small budget (about $100US, yes it's very small). I have a few I was looking at, I'm concerned about getting a brand/item that isn't compatible. I really don't understand how the different numbers affect the products. Like I know lower latency is faster and higher mhz is faster (or at least that's what I understand, maybe I'm wrong) but I don't know how much it actually affects performance or why there's 4 numbers to the latency. And also, it is better to keep the same mhz/latency and get max memory or is it better to get more mhz and only a little more memory? I may be overthinking this but that's normal. I overthink everything.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE Aorus B450 Pro Wifi (Specifications from website for memory)
  1. 2 x DDR4 DIMM sockets supporting up to 64 GB (32 GB single DIMM capacity) of system memory
  2. Dual channel memory architecture
  3. Support for DDR4 3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/2933/2667/2400/2133 MHz memory modules
  4. Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules
    * ECC is only supported with AMD Ryzen™ and Athlon™ of PRO-series CPU.
  5. Support for non-ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8/1Rx16 memory modules
  6. Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

Graphics: Nvidia GEForce RTX 3070

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5600x 6 core, 3701 mhz

RAM: TForce Vulcan 3200 (PC4-25600) 16 18 18 38 (2 X8gb sticks)

Windows 10 (not sure what bit)

1. This first one is closer to the price point I'm looking for. It would double my RAM and from what I can tell, it's within my computer's specs. I know GIGABYTE has some compatible options with G.Skill but this isn't on their list as far as I could find, maybe I missed it? This is the only one with completely different specs than what I have currently.

(2-4 have the same specs as my current ram but have a higher amount of RAM)

2. This is a little more expensive than I wanted to pay but I know the brand works with it so...

3. This is a bit cheaper but the same specs as the second option. (Difference between Aegis and Ripjaws? I found these specs in both series, basically same price)

4. Again, same specs as above but it's Corsair. (Doesn't fully specify latency)

Sorry if I had you look at basically the same item multiple times.

Thank you!

so others may help could you post the speccy link

Can you Download and run and then post. https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download
To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

The last part of each URL is randomized, so only people you provide with the URL will be able to find your profile.

The information given in Speccy cannot be used by anyone to hack your system

Could you also include the power supply specs E.g Cooler Master 850W Gold V2 NOT E.g 850w

Screenshot is just so you can see it is actually a Ryzen 5600x....

Chrome averages about 20% CPU when I have Twitch open.

if Gigabyte motherboards and G-Skill memory had incompatibility issues, check for a BIOS upgrade to see if they have fixed it.

as to memory choice, as long as it's listed in the QVL, I'd be going for 4 x 16GB sticks rather than 2 x 32GB sticks myself.
good article here; https://techreviewteam.com/hardware/is-4-sticks-of-ram-better-than-2/
but like all things computing, opinions vary!

Thank you. It makes sense to spread out the max capacity between the slots. I will do that for sure.

I appreciate all of the help. :giggle:

As per Rule #15 I am unable to assist with this matter, good luck!

15. PCHF can not and will not offer advice for business use or financial gain. This includes streaming services. PCHF only offers assistance for personal use.

@veeg should be able to make the final call.

It's not for financial gain because I don't plan on making it as a streamer. I will never get an income off of it. But this is helping me to understand my equipment better and fix an issue, which is the point. It's fine if you don't want to add anything.
