Well I really don’t know what to call what’s happening with my computer, because sometimes it stutters for 2 minutes then crashes, sometimes I get blue screens, and other times it just freezes.

Yes the power plan is in balanced, I had to do a fresh install of windows due to a blue screen I couldn’t get passed.

Sorry for being all over the place on this thread, all this is sort of overwhelming and starting to stress me out. I've been dealing with the problem for 6 months and every day in this 6 months i crash at least 5 times. I want to just figure out what part is causing this issue and replace it, but sadly i know won't be that easy.

I was also about to buy a new SSD, but im guessing by your reply i shouldn't buy it.

BSOD = crash, stuttering or freezing is not a crash, simples ;)

Good on the Power Plan but not good on you reinstalling.

Was it a clean install using Windows media.

Did you correctly install the system drivers before allowing Windows to update, be honest about this because we can tell.

Will look at the MTB log while you answer the above, post a new Speccy for us as well so that we can check that everything you have done was how it needs to be.

I had not choice but to fresh install windows. I had a bitlocker screen and for some reason when i put in the recover key and press enter nothing happened. Even though i had the correct key.

As for the drivers, I'm 99.9% sure i download chipset and graphic drivers before any windows updates. I'm not 100% sure though.

I haven't even changed anything in bios yet, i think i remember you telling me to restore bios to default so i haven't touched it.

I also seen above in a different reply of yours you mention being on a beta version of BIOS is not good. I think im on beta version so if you would like me to roll back i could.

Windows was allowed to update before the drivers had been correctly installed :(

Was it a clean install using Windows media.

You never answered the above.

As I suspected there looks to be zero wrong with your SSD.

What we can see that is causing you issues and it is something well known for doing so, the problematic Elgato software, uninstall it for now.

Other things of note, you have numerous drivers that have failed to install and there is a problem with the trusted platform module drivers.

Done almost 12hrs online again today so calling it a day now, will check back tomorrow.

Quick question, when you said the elgato software is “causing issues” do you mean the stuttering and restarts or something else? After the stuttering/restarts I get a WHEA-Logger 18 error I’d say about 70% of the time. Can software cause this error? Just curious.

I always prefer to be straight to the point so I will, your PC has been so badly set up from the outset and with RAM that should never have been used, the RAM on its own would cause all the crap but missing and incorrect drivers would make matters worse.

WHEA = Windows Hardware Error Architecture but it does not always mean that an item of hardware has failed, more often than not the error gets thrown up by having the wrong RAM or missing/incompatible drivers.

Fyi, three of the worst causes of software issues are Elgato, LGHub and anything Razer related, I personally would not have any of them anywhere near my PC.

s it was a clean install using windows media via a USB

I wouldn't mess about with this and would just start from scratch but doing it how it needs to be done, no third party crap until we get you a stable PC, close your thread and move on, you can install what you want once we are done, just dont come back when it goes pear shaped again

I’m really not understanding. If I downloaded windows wrong. Could you maybe post a video or something to help with this? With the ram, how am using the wrong ram? Could you give me a couple that are the right ram? What drivers would I be missing? Could you maybe link the drivers I’m missing?

You will be guided on what needs to be done, we just need to know that you are with us, this includes sticking 100% to what you are advised until we are done.

It has been explained more than the once what the problem is with the RAM, forget about it for now and don't go purchasing any new stuff, we can try a workaround once the PC is set up properly and running stable.

Yes I am 100% if I wasn’t I wouldn’t have posted this thread to begin with. I’m ready to get this over with, I’ve been dealing with it for too long now.

Right then first things first,

You have your installation media on a USB flashdrive, is that correct.

Have you changed the boot sequence so that your USB flashdrive is the first on the boot list.

Do you have a spare flashdrive that you can save the required drivers to.

Have you put the original GPU back in.

You are using a beta version of BIOS, did you update to it before or after your problems began.

Is the MB still on stock settings, no XMP or anything else changed.

Yes I have installation media on a USB

I have not but I easily can

I currently don’t have a spare usb

No, the 1660 Super is still in

I honestly can’t remember, if I’m remembering correctly I didn’t do any updates to bios back then. I did remember rolling back to 10.20 after the problem started maybe thinking that bios version was messed up.

Yes the bios are still at default settings

Boot sequence needs to be the USB device first.

You need a USB stick for the required drivers.

Your present version of Bios is a beta as can be seen below;

Brand: American Megatrends Inc.
Version: P10.31
Date: 8/22/2024

While we are on the subject of the MB, the homepage clearly shows the fastest RAM that the board can support;
  • Supports DDR4 3200*
Going offline now as I have an early start and have been online for 10hrs.

Notes for when you clean install, you must first of all disable secure boot and change to Legacy mode before you begin.

I will check back early in the morning, can I ask that you do not do anything other than what we have discussed meanwhile, hard as it may be.

I’m gonna have to wait as I don’t have a second USB for drivers so I won’t be able to do anything, like fresh install until I get it. Unless the usb is not 100% needed.

To do it correctly it is, if you don`t do it properly Windows will update and install all sorts of crap and put you back to square one.

Ok so I’ll try to get a usb then get back to you. I’d honestly prefer you be online when I do this so I don’t mess anything up.

I would like to mention, ever since i've deleted that elgato software i haven't crashed in 2 days. Lets hope it stays that way. 😂
