Solved Pc shuts down and fans go full blast

Nothing happened when I tried the Evga. Mobo remained dead.

I did watch the videos provided! As per your recommendation and upon further reflection and research I have decided to retire my Seasonic. It served me well. RIP.

Will update when system is back up and running again.

Divider as shown in the picture attached. Should I have this in place or remove it?

If there was no signs of life at all you may be correct in that the MB has expired but can I just check that you ( A ) Did the paperclip test on the EVGA to see if it activated and if it did when you connected it to the MB did you do ( B ) Disconnect the case power switch from the front panel header on the MB and then short out the pwr + and - pins on the front panel header to see if the PSU activated.

If the divider fits when any new PSU is in place the divider should be put back in place, I like be quiet cases but they should stick with making cases and leave PSUs to the four big outfits already out there.

Edit to add: Forgot to mention ** in my reply #20, the PC was never going to work correctly with the 600W EVGA PSU as the PSU does not meet the minimum power requirements of the GPU + EVGA only made white efficiency rated PSUs for office type computers that have minimal power requirements as in no add on GPU only onboard video.
 
Yes, I did those things. No signs of life.

I note your comment on the Evga. I shall have the new PSU on Friday where ill assemble everything.

No luck here :-( . New Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 arrived and I wonder if its DOA? I tested my new psu on my old system and everything works as it should however when I try test the new board with nothing on it, just the board it self, I get no power. Only for a split second when I switch on the power supply switch on the back I see some lights but they go off immediately. Shorting the PW doesn't do anything. Not all boards will power up without a CPU, RAM and keyboard being hooked up. see

If out of the box new you would be real unlucky for it to be doa.

Is this board out of the box new.

You have not put this replacement MB inside the case yet have you.

CPU, keyboard, RAM, 24 pin mainboard connector, 8 PIN 12V CPU ATX connector, CPU cooling fan to header on the MB, were all these connected.
 
This is out of the box new.

I have not put it in the case yet. Its on a cardboard.

cpu, gpu, keyboard, ram, 24pin, 8 pin, cooling fan are all connected. GPU led lights do come and stay on nothing else though.
 
Good on the first two points but the GPU LEDs not sure on, it does mean that the MB has some power present.

What are you using for a PSU.

You mention shorting the PW, please explain what you did.
 
PSU: Asus ROG Strix 750W Gold Aura

I am shorting with a screwdriver. I know I'm shorting the right pins coz I was referring directly from the board's manual.
 
I prefer a paperclip bent into a U shape but the idea is the same, the correct pins are shown in the attachment below;

Yes, those two. Just tried with a paper clip too but nothing. Could it be a faulty cpu thats preventing the mobo from powering up?
 
Ok, I found the problem. I became very suspicious that it might be the cpu so I took it out and examined the pins under magnification and sure enough one was bent! I would have never noticed it without magnification.

I did try put the cpu back on my old MB but that one remains dead. At least now we know the new MB is working. It powers up fine but it requires my cpu to be on it and nothing else. I will now re-assemble everything and try boot.

Question: My current hard drive has drivers installed for my old MB. Should I just uninstall them and install those from Gigabyte without going into safe mode etc?
 
Ouch, is all now okay with the new MB.

It is always best to just do a clean install because the alternative is to try and boot into Safe Mode only ( No Networking ) and then one by one find and uninstall all the previously installed system drivers, if you don't do this and you try and boot straight from the drive Windows will try and load the old system drivers with the new MB and you will get BSOD at the very least and this if the system will attempt to boot at all.
 
System is up and running just as of today. I set Dimms to 1.35V and 3200mhz as recommended. Waiting to see how things pan out and will report back.
