As previously asked, have you had any further problems since carrying out the suggestions in my reply #36, if you have not had any further problems the only thing that you need to do is create a new system restore point and forget about reinstalling Windows or any other drivers, and no worries we all had to start somewhere and it is better to ask if you are unsure of something.

MB = motherboard.

Yeah, I’ve still been crashing. I’ll try and find a video or something on how to reinstall all of my drivers. Thanks.

What happens exactly, crashes are normally associated with Windows and you get a BSOD and subsequent crash dmp, if the issue is hardware related such as overheating or a weak PSU you do not get a crash dmp.

Installing drivers is straightforward, after any clean install of Windows, you either install the drivers for the MB from a disk that shipped with the board or by downloading and installing the MB manufacturers homepage, in both instances you should install the chipset drivers first.

Okay, just two last questions until I do it.

I saw somewhere that there is a way to reinstall windows without losing all of my data, is that an option for this?

And just to clarify, after Windows is done, I only install the MB driver and not the GPU driver?

Thanks

Not sure where or what you have read but it is not accurate, the only way to install Windows on a storage device that has data on it without losing any data is if the storage device concerned was previously partitioned so that Windows was on its own partition and that partition must be large enough for the new OS to be installed to it.

Once Windows has been installed you install the drivers for the MB, starting with the chipset drivers first and then you install the drivers for any GPU from any disk that may have shipped with the card or direct from either AMD or Nvidea depending on which brand of card you have - do not let Windows install any drivers else you will end up with problems.

Polite reminder;
Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

I got Windows on a USB and I read back what you said and I just want to clarify something.

Do I have to reinstall windows or can I just use DDU.

Again, sorry for being such a noob.

No worries, better to be safe rather than sorry but can I just say that you are complicating things for yourself by not sticking with what we are trying to achieve here, reading stuff on other forums that have no bearings on this is just confusing you.

Not sure what you mean by "Do I have to reinstall windows or can I just use DDU."

DDU is only for uninstalling video device drivers it has nothing to do with Windows and since you said that you were going clean install Windows there will not be any third party video drivers on the system for DDU to uninstall.

To reiterate, the following is all that you need to know and what steps to follow;

I've reinstalled Windows but am having trouble finding my MB drivers. My model is the Gigabyte GA-Z77P-D3.

Sorry, I can't edit the last post.

But I found the drivers and I just want to make sure that after downloading the chipset drivers, I download all of the other drivers for it. (Audio, LAN, SATA, USB etc.)

Also, after I'm done with the MB I just have to download the one GPU driver on the website and I'm good?

Thanks.

Again, sorry I can't edit. 3 of the MB drivers newest ones are for windows 8. Should I install them?

I tried with both these drivers installed and not installed and I’m still crashing. I also did the RAM test by taking out 2 and switching I but I crashed both ways.

Can you answer the above for us if you will.

99% of my crashes are to the desktop with a game crash report, but the odd time I get a blue screen and lately with the message WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Also, earlier in the thread I linked a crash dump from a blue screen.

What games and what do the games own crash logs say.

Old crash dmps are no good, we need the most recent.

We could also do with an updated Speccy url.
