My PC has started to more frequently crash out of games. It normally crashes to the desktop with a crash report and has done this for multiple games. It has recently even started to completely freeze the computer and forces me to shut it off. It normally occurs during loading screens and other moments that would require the most power.

After sending the logs to my friend that knows more about this stuff than me; he found two common error messages. “The System Cannot find the File Specified” and “The Thread Tried to Read from or Write to a Virtual Address for which it does not have Access”

I’m thinking it’s a hardware problem but don’t know where to start. Does anyone have some insight on this problem?

R9 Fury Nitro
I7 3770K
Z77P-D3
64gb Ram

The files attached below are crash reports from World of Tanks.

Thanks,

Windows is out of date and until it is fully up to date you are wasting your time troubleshooting anything, update Windows to 1903 then post back and include the following information.

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU in this machine.

Something odd going on with one of the drives by the look of things so we could do with an expanded screenshot of Drive Manager.

Press the Windows+R keys to open Run, type diskmgmt.msc in the empty box then press OK.

To capture and post a screenshot - please do not use any other method.

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

PSU = Tauro 600W 80 plus Bronze

This brand and model of PSU was junk when released some seven years ago and even with only the one storage device in the computer the PSU claiming that it is 600W even when new could not power the Radeon R9 FURY GPU as the PSU when independently tested could only produce 504W some 96W short of what is recommended for a system using a Radeon R9 FURY.

You need a good quality brand Gold efficiency rated PSU asap and due to you having multiple storage devices I suggest that nothing below 750W be used.

There is over 117GB of unallocated storage space on one of your drives so that mystery has been cleared up and it can be put right once you have a new PSU in place.

I would not risk powering up the computer until the PSU has been swapped out, the Tauro only had a two year warranty so that will have expired way back.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

Do you think that there is a good chance that the PSU not giving enough power is the reason that it is crashing? I will definitely get a new power supply but want to also make sure that this is the problem.

Sorry, didn't know that replying to something quoted it all, I'll stop doing that.

I explained this clearly above, trust me, I have been building and repairing computers for over thirty years and one sure fire way (sometimes literally) of ruining valuable hardware is by cheaping out on the PSU, prolonged use of a junk power supply even if it doesnt go bang will slowly but surely damage any hardware that it is intended to power.

Polite reminder;
Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

Would a 750W Bronze PSU be okay? And I just want to make sure, you don’t see any other problems with my PC that could be causing the crashing?
