To make a long story short, HP screwed me on an 1100 dollar paperweight with components that weren’t exactly compatible. It burned out in half an hour. Went black. I could unplug the CPU and SYS power and get an led/fan pulse for about 2 seconds. Then back off. So I read online and came to the conclusion the 400w power supply was probably about 200ish watts short. And probably burned out. After purchasing the 750w I realized the factory plugs on the HP mobo were for factory PSU only.
Therfore I purchased a new mobo and power supply. As well as a case to hold it. Because the HP was so small..
maybe it was my ignorance more than HP but doesn’t help my feelings :’)
I’m now here, assembled, ready to game, and no picture. Monitor acts like it does when nothing is plugged in at all. Tested it on my Xbox works fine.
(Please keep in mind I have no second unit to test internal parts on.)
here is a current part breakdown:
Aorus a520m elite mobo
Ryzen 5 5600x (factory from HP)
Radeon 5500 graphics card (factory from HP)
1TB intel SSD (factory from HP)
2x16gb Intel DDR4 (factory from HP)
750w Corsair modular PSU
I know for a fact the factory cpu cooler is a little weak for the current setup but would expect it to at least boot up. I have a cooler master ordered.
The led and all fans light up and run properly.
Seems as the whole rig is running but the display says no signal as if it’s not plugged in.
Tested the HDMI cable on other products.
Also plugged directly into the mobo after the first attempt with the graphics card didn’t work.
Unplugged graphics card, swapped RAM slots, can’t get any different response.
No beeps or lights from the mobo either.
I’m aware I have to update the mobo BIOS to F10 for the CPU to work properly once I get it too show a picture.
also bought new Ram and some extra case fans with the new cooler just because I’m tired of spending extra time waiting on parts for it. Gonna be very expensive for an average gamer by the time it’s over if I don’t get the correct advice soon.
Any ideas? Tests? Suggestions?
