I recenly bought an msi mpg b550 gaming plus, to pair it with a ryzen 7 5800x. Also bought a new psu, the msi mag 750w. For some reason when I placed my m2 ssd on slot 1, the one with the lightining gen 2, the pc didnt get any image. But when I plugged it on slot 2, the pc works normally. Also, I cant get any hdd to power up, currently have 1 m2 ssd and one 2.5 ssd, working correctly, but for some reason the hdd doesnt power up, already tried two different ones and neither one powers up. Am I plugging the wrong cables or is just an issue with the motherboard?

m2 ssd: Samsung Evo 960 256 GB ( mz-v6e250) > Only works on m2 slot 2
HDD : Seagate 1tb 7200rpm (st1000m003) > doesnt power up
2.5 ssd: crucial 2.5 ssd 256 GB > works fine

Lets get a Speccy from you.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Looking at your motherboard manual page 5, the #1 slot supports PCIe 4.0 the #2 slot supports PCIe 3.0. It states the #1 slot runs from the AMD processor and the #2 slot runs from the AMD B550 chipset. It's possible you don't have the chipset driver installed correctly or not at all.

Lets look at the Speccy before moving forward.
