I apologize if I'm not using this correctly, it is my first time posting.

I should probably lead off by saying there's totally a chance I'm overestimating my computer. My PC specs are as follows:

CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K

16 GB of Ram

GPU AMD 6600 XT

Despite what i thought was a good computer when playing certain games my computer struggles to run at times. In fifa I suffer from lag, long loading times, and buffering. It's even worse for Elden ring, as I'm not even able to play then longer then a few seconds without my game crashing. I should probably mention that I've sailed the 7 seas and may have some bitcoin miner running in the background, although I don't think it's that. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Post all the games you have tried to play. Also give us your complete psu spec's

Rocket league, no real problems
Dark souls 3, no real problems
Lethal company, no real problems
R6, no real problems
Valorant, no real problems
Ghost of Tsushima, no real problems
OW2, decent lag , manageable
EAFC, decent lag constant throughout the game, very annoying
Fortnite, decent amount of lag and insane load times, problem
Elden Ring, literally unplayable

My PSU is a Corsair 850x

Can you expand on the power supply, like does it say something before the 850, like CV850, or RM850 - something like that?

That's a solid PSU, excellent.

Let’s do a full workup of your system.
No personal data is published and everything shown is safe.

1) Download Speccy by Piriform.
In Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
Paste that link into your post. Is Speccy safe?

2) Download GetSystemInfo by Kaspersky.
In GSI, click Start. (takes about 10mins)
It makes a ZIP file on your desktop, drag that to their GSI Parser site.
Once analysed, paste the newly created URL into your post.

3) Download MiniToolBox by Farbar.
In MTB, tick List Installed Programs, click Go then close the program.
A file MTB.txt is created in the same folder, attach that to your post.

4) No software interrogates the Power Supply Unit so list the make/model.

5) Go to www.speedtest.net and screenshot your network speeds.

I'm trusting you Bruce!

From the reports;
  • that download speed is pretty terrible, up and down, so your online gaming experience will never be great
  • you connect via wireless, also not great for gaming - suggest you try the ethernet port and cable yourself directly into your modem - even if that means moving the rig just for testing this theory
  • C:\ is down to 9% free, while that is still 160GB available. Get WizTree to find where the space has gone (Download link on HGistory tab)
  • your BIOS version is 1017, current is 2002 released June 2024. Upgrading to this may help
  • long shot but worth a stab, turn off XMP mode in BIOS
What's the age of the SSD?

I’ll get to 1-3 in a bit

I thought I had turned XMP off but guess not

My SSD should only be around two years old.
