I recently upgraded my Windows 8.1 laptop to windows 10. and now being locked out by the login password. I tried the same password as i set on windows 8 but it didn't work. Anyone has such an issue with windows 10?
 
On Win 8 did you have/sign in with a local account or MS? If local account then it may be asking for a MS account details.
To rule out a keyboard problem you could try the onscreen keyboard on login.

It is a local account. I tried caps lock on, and it still doesn't work. thanks

It's possible MS have changed your log in to your account details if you have a Microsoft account or the keyboard is faulty, try the onscreen keyboard, on the log in page there should be an accessibility icon to turn it on.
