I have tried downloading a file that is around 7 GBs three times now. I am trying to save it to a 64 GB Thumbdrive that has about 14 GBs of free space, but for some reason Chrome has canceled the downloaded saying "Failed, Disk Full" even though I know for a fact that there is still 14 GBs free on my thumbdrive. Can anyone help me? I am running Windows 7 Pro. And the latest version of Chrome.
 
Hello Brandon just to add to what Gus has stated when was the last time you checked the thumb drive to see if it was starting to fail?

Are you saving to a directory on the thumb drive?
Try making a directory for the file and see if it will completely download there.

Open a Administrator command prompt and type
chkdsk x: /r

For x use what the drive is for the thumb drive. Before doing this you may want to transfer the data to a working thumb drive or the HDD temporally as a precaution.

I don't see how the thumbdrive could be failing, I just purchased the thumbdrive last week. It is a SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 64 GB thumbdrive. I was able to download the file directly to my HDD and then extract it (since it was a zip file) and move it to the thumbdrive. But I'm still not sure why Chrome was saying the thumbdrive was full.

Well try to download the same file with another browser, and/or to another thumbdrive and narrow the issue down that way.
 
Hi Brandon. I agree with what has been said so you should see if you can download the file to your desktop first and then see if you can copy it over to the flash drive that way.

If Google Chrome is failing to download the file then try using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox and see if the same thing happens.

Sorry, it took so long for me to respond. I was able to DL the file to my downloads folder on my HDD and copy it over to my thumbdrive. I would download it again trying another browser but it took about 4 hrs to download last time, so I really don't want to have to wait again. I have done a little research online and this has happened to a couple people using Chrome so I think it's probably an issue with Chrome and not the thumbdrive. i really like Chrome, but it's been kind of buggy lately. I had that issue and then I'm having problems with New Tab pop-ups on certain sites, even though have Ad-Blocker Plus installed and even though when i visit them using Explorer or Firefox i don't get the pop-ups. Maybe I have to just say goodbye to Chrome and start using Firefox.
 
Chrome is a very popular browser, but unfortunately being popular doesn't make it the best. Along with Firefox are several Mozilla based browsers that are secure you could try, even 64 bit ones that Ive found work very well if your system supports 64 bit. Opera is nice browser overlooked by many as well. If you really are a sucker for Chrome you could try uninstalling it with either Revo or Geek Uninstaller and reinstalling it afresh? Good luck:)

Well iI guess this thread is solved, since I was able do DL it to my HDD and transfer it to my thumb drive, but I'm still not sure why Chrome was saying the thumb drive was full.
