I have a HP laptop running Windows 10, with a Intel i-7 7200u I believe, with 12gb of ddr4 RAM. I am having trouble transferring files from an external HDD to another external HDD. The folders I am trying to transfer are upwards of about 30 GB each the transfer will start then it will freeze, my screen will go blank and the only option I have is to press Ctrl+Alt+delete and then restart my laptop. And then sometimes it will be in the process of transferring and suddenly one of the HDD will unmount. So I'll go to this pc check that's it's actually unmounted then unplug and replug in the HDD, then file explorer will take forever to load the HDD, it will say"working on it" and most of the time after waiting like 10 or 15 mins I'll just say screw it and restart the computer, that is unless my screen doesn't go blank again. I have tried using teracopy and that will report a bunch of errors and I've tried just using Windows to transfer the files, I've tried copy, and paste, and dragging the folder over to the destination folder, and I've tried the send to... Option and it's messed up in all those options at various times. I am trying to move about 300GBs of files. Could it be a RAM problem, do I need more RAM to move such large files? Please help, I won't be able to answer back til after 8pm tonight.

Just to add what others have stated.
Try copying just one file and see if the same thing happens. If that works then try a few a a time. Then more...
Are you sure the drive you are sending to and or from are not becoming corrupt?
Next do you have enough space on the receiving drive for the amount of data you are attempting to transfer?
Finally have you checked the error logs to see if they shine any light on why this may be accruing.
After trying Phillpowers suiggestion, if you still have an issue try Roadkills Unstoppable copier, works where others fail.

When I transfer one file at a time it works fine, and even when I transfer a few at a time, but it seems like if I try to do more then like 1 or 2 GBs then that is when it decides to clonk out on me. I just got back from work and I went right back to trying to transfer the folders, and even before I got a chance to try I went on to the destination drive to delete the incomplete folder and it said Windows detected an error on the drive. SO right now I am scanning the drive, this is the second time because it said windows couldn't repair the errors so I should try again. So if this does or doesn't work anyway it goes i'm going to scan the destination drive with HD Tune Pro and see if it finds any errors. I am getting so tired of this, I spent about three days trying to format a different drive and just gave up on it yesterday. Hopefully I don't have to do the same with this one too.
I gave Roadkill a try and it didn't work. I think it may be the HDD enclosure, because I got a different drive from my roommate, a 500GB Toshiba 5400RPM drive and put that into the enclosure and Windows said the device is malfunctioned Windows doesn't recognize it. So i'm going to return this enclosure and get a new one. I just don't believe that 4 drives in a row are bad. The enclosure I got is a from JSVER and it only cost me $9.00 on Amazon, I'm going to return it and go with the Amazon Recommended enclosure which is made by Sabrent, or there is a nice looking one by WavLink. Does anyone have suggestions on a good HDD enclosure?
To be honest I only use an enclosure to pull data or clone a HDD. If I need external storage I use a USB external HDD and or Thumb-drive.
So I have decided to upgrade my laptop SSHD to one that is 1TB instead of 500GBs, they are both SATA 6Gb/s, 8GB NAND, 64 MB cache and 5,400 rpm. I am thinking of using the old SSHD as an external drive once I get the new enclosure on Monday. Will I see a big read/write difference when I put it in the enclosure and use it for external storage compared to just a regular mechanical drive in an enclosure? Will it be utilizing the 8GBs of NAND as an external drive hooked up to a USB 3.0 port, or should I just use the 500GB 5,400 rpm drive my roomate gave me as an external drive, and maybe sell him my old SSHD for his laptop? I really love these SSHD's they are really fast, my boot time is like 5 seconds, they have a larger capacity then a SSD and are less expensive and run almost as fast.
