gygabyte 970A-D3P

CPU - AMD FX 6300
8gb ram

GPU- AMD radeon R9 270
windows 8

I wanted to try some newer games at better graphics. bottleneck told me it was CPU and motherboard is quite old.
I only have about $400 dllrs on me, so I was wondering what do you guys recommend for CPU and motherboard combo, I'll need ram winth this money too. I can look up compatibility myself but I dont know which CPU or motherboard are any good compared to their price. I have a windows 10 key and SSD money in another pile. I will keep the GPU for about 2 months(short on cash). Any recommendations for good CPU motherboard (+ram) combo will be appreciated.

what are biggest downside to upgrade such an old PC??

Honest answer is that you need almost a complete new build :(

GPU- AMD radeon R9 270

Seven year old technology so way slower than todays hardware, I suspect that the PSU is also as old so that would need to go as well.

You are best to wait until prices come back down and to keep on saving meanwhile, your SSD and Windows 10 money aside you need to have a budget of at least $750 or $800+ if you include a new case.
