Never-Ending POST Beeps from Asus P6T Deluxe

The issue:
  • Continuous short beeps (short beeps that NEVER STOP repeating)
  • The beeps start immediately after pressing the computer power button
  • The motherboard has onboard power and reset buttons with indicator lights that flash repeatedly after the power supply is switched off
The computer has worked perfectly for years, and I haven't made any changes to it.

Everything is working normally otherwise:
  • Nothing unusual on screen during POST or boot
  • Boots OK
  • Video OK
  • Programs load
  • Windows system information shows all RAM
The only noticeable problem is the beeping--it's so loud that the computer is now practically unusable.

There are two BIOS programs--first a Marvell, then an AMI--and I haven't found anything useful in either for solving the problem.

None of the beep codes that I've seen have a "continuous short beeps" listing.

My questions are:
  • Given that everything appears to be working (except for the beeps), how can I fix the beeping issue?
  • Is there a way to just turn the beeps off? (I've seen no option for this in BIOS or in the manual)

I had this problem on a PC in the past, non-stop beeping, and like yours, everything run just fine.
my solution, while radical, was simply to squeeze the onboard buzzer (whille the PC was off) with a pair of pliers until it cracked and gave up the ghost. I then pulled it off the motherboard just leaving the two soldered pins sticking up.

brutal - yes.
fixed the issue - yes
recommend it for others - not if you are in love with your rig. :)

in my case the unit was over 6 years old and I didn't care at the time if I made the situation worse.

you may be lucky and the speaker/buzzer is one that can be detached from the motherboard.

Some people are suggesting that the CPU temperature could be the cause of the beeping. The beeps begin the moment that I press the power button--while my finger is still on the button.

Could the CPU reach critical temps instantly in a cold room?

You can definitely check the temps and see if that could be the issue.

How many and have you tried reseating the power and data connections. Including RAM and display card.

Run the following two programs and post screenshots of both results.

Download Speedfan and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.

The lights on the buttons flash in unison, one flash per second AFTER the PSU is switched off. While the PSU is still on, the lights are on, but do not flash (which is normal). The color of the lights do not change, the reset button is always green and the power button is always red (these are the colors that they've always been).
