Alright I have a Dell XPS 7200 pc mostly stock. 8Gb of ram, stock mobo and cpu. EVGA 1060 6 gb is what i recently put in to replace a GTX9800 which blue screened, and also had a Nvidia 580 quadro which ran like crap graphics wise, but did not crash or anything. Since putting in the 1060 my pc has been crashing sometimes after a few hours of gaming sometimes 5 minutes from bootup just browsing the web or opening multiple pages. I plan on fully upgrading everything in the pc within the next month or so. Just looking for if i can pinpoint what the problem is and buy the parts slowly and install them one at a time as my funds allow me to...

So as far as trouble shooting I have uninstalled drivers and reinstalled multiple times. Recently uninstalled the 3D driver that the card comes with and it lasted a solid 5 hours last night of gaming and eventually crashed. I now have no other ideas what could be causing this (Noob, but am trying to learn) and am kinda lost at the moment.

Hi Don and welcome to PCHF :)

I own and have owned many Dell computers, and one thing they all have in common is a crappy PSU.

If you upgrade the graphics card without upgrading the PSU too, there will not be consistent and enough power for the GPU and it'll bluescreen.

Please follow the BSOD Prework and upload your dump files so I or phillpower can analyze them to be certain it's hardware-related and not software-related :)

Hi Don, Welcome to PCHF! :)

Not all power supplies are created equal. Especially if the PSU is not even 80 plus certified but that wattage should be more than enough to handle the GTX 1060 assuming its a good quality unit.

If you reinstall the Nvidia 580 Quadro card, does the computer still crash? Does the GTX 1060 work fine in another computer?

Well we have to rule out a faulty video card that is causing the computer to crash. If reinstalling the Nvidia 580 Quadro is not causing the computer to crash, but installing the GTX 1060 causes the machine to crash even after a short period of time then the video card could be the cause of the problem. Do you have another power supply you can use to test with the machine to ensure its not a power supply issue?
