Solved Is my gpu or psu faulty??

Hey guys, I recently bought a used asus gtx 1080 strix, along with a brand new 650w psu (I upgraded from a gtx1050ti). Every now and then the monitor turns black and i'm hit with the "no signal" text. Then I have to press the power button to force my pc to restart to get signal. Event Viewer sometimes says this: "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." while other times doesn't. I have watched almost every video on this topic, asked reddit and friends but the problem remains, can you guys help me???

Setup
CPU: i5-7400
GPU: 1080
RAM: 2x8gb DDR4

I would also have to mention that I have a 1080p 60hz monitor with a VGA output, thus i'm using a VGA to HDMI adapter, THIS didn NOT cause any issues while on the 1050ti that i have used for more than 3years now.

Surprised that no one has mentioned that the PSU is a pile of junk, so bad that it only makes Tier D • Recommended only for very cheap, iGPU systems here this basically means that it should not be used anywhere near a computer that has any form of add on video card as it is only good enough to support onboard video.

You need to get yourself a minimum of a Gold efficiency rated 500W PSU from a proven brand such as Corsair, EVGA or Seasonic, no other brand will do and I suggest that you get the GPU tested in case the present PSU has damaged it.
