All devices need a driver
Most times when you plug device now days windows will find a driver and install (not always)
As far as I know there is not a generic android driver.
You plug an android phone into a computer and it will install the driver or you can find one.
When you plug another brand of android phone it it will need a driver different to the first - so no generic driver.
Did you backup the SD card before updating the maps?
Also the iGO site I have found says the maps do not work from an SD card.
Do you have a link to the Google android play store site you got the maps fromComment

Yes to first.
Igo supplied the sd card with the unit at purchase so I’m not quite certain where they are coming from, plus updates are supplied free but can only be installed by amending sd card, which is simplicity itself.
Take on board what you state regarding android usd driver…I do now have this APK pure one click install which has recognised my APK files and loaded them with the next step install. I just haven’t had time to get out to car which I’m itching to do, as medical staff attending the house, in fact have only just managed to open up PC!!!
This is the link supplied by IGO:

Clicking on the sat nav IGO exe logo, activated a page which just said Manage/Install/Cancel.
Clicked on install which then indicated IGO sat nav loading, having loaded the next page gave option to install followed by choice of Done or Open.
I selected open and sat nav began to install as it should, every action it carried out was marked as ready and complete. After a few minutes page stated install complete and sat nav opened with the Welcome page and my Street etc, then almost immediately another pop up announced app closing and it did.I tried again with same result?
As always any advice would be appreciated thanksComment

Happily YES! After some research prior to leaving the scene, I did manage to load an APK installer onto my Car android device, I then reinserted my sat nav mini sd card into the devices dedicated GPS slot, which was immediately flagged up on my device as GPS sd card mounted. The next action was to open APK installer which showed both my media card plus my sat nav GPS card.

We can close post and set as solved. The solution in the end was just too simple. The short answer is that windows will not handle android files. Emulators in the main, once in place will allow android apps to be played on windows OS but not transferred.. In my case it was all about sat nav.
A tech firm named AID supply android macro sd cards with sat nav installed. obtained one and it loaded a treat, so now have sat nav, all’s well with the the world. Really appreciate both the Forums Assistance and patience. Thanks to one and all.
