My recovery partition is pre Windows 10 so I had to upgrade from 8.1 to 10 again, it`s so annoying as everything else is fine other than there not being any compatible drivers for the wireless device in 1709Comment

Anyway @vger did you update your motherboards BIOS to the latest version? I assume you are not overclocking any components?
Lets see what is starting up with your machine.
Please download Autoruns. After you download the zipped folder on your desktop, right click the zipped folder and click Extract All. After the folder has been extracted open the regular folder. Run the autoruns.exe program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When you open the program, click the Logon Tab and then post a screenshot of all the startup entries on the Logon Tab in your next reply.
With your PC restarting itself, that could indicate an issue with the power supply on the system that is starting to fail especially if the issue has been growing more frequently.
You updated your NVidia GT 610 video drivers already from the NVidia website?
Do the restarts happen when the computer is sitting there idling on the desktop?Comment

Would that be the same Evan aka the champion of all things Windoze
Levity apart, fully understand that MS should not be expected to provide drivers for older OEM computers such as my aging Sony Vaio but what hacks me off is the fact that putting a check in the Defer Feature Updates box is totally ignored, even when selecting the metered download option, the notebook is fully functional up until the 1709 update so why replace it!
Just a btw Windows 10 Pro cost me the equivalent of US $255+/Aus $322+ which is hardly a tip that you would pass the bar person unless you are a millionaireComment

Ok Evan i will get on that ASAP.
So after i changed the default pdf reader and for some reason the MS trouble shooter was wanting me to engage the screen saver (done) i have not had any restarts, knock on wood. Still in the process of changing out some old hardware that is connected to the pc.Comment

Just a btw, Veeg and I came across an apps issue at the beginning of the month after running the Windows AIO repair tool but yet again the nonsense appears to have been Microsoftβs doing.Comment

Havnt used a screensaver since back in the XP days, no need for them with modern screens as they don`t suffer from the burn in problem like the old CRT units did.Comment
