win 10 upgrade

have upgraded from win7 over christmas break via a win10 media download
quite honestly wish i had never bothered!–and the time its taken!

I get to win 10 seascape screen but its taking approx 24mins
then several programmes which show in control panel / programmes dont figure in start list and when i click on them ionly get optoiions to modify or uninstall --Idont -I want to have them in list and use them!!

IN upgrading from disk I chose to save apps and files etc but whilst programmes are showing in control panel list how do I make them active please I have checked and find they are compatible with win 10

I am also told that I can easily revert back to win 7 pro ( SCUSE THE LAUGHTER ) but at the moment -whilst this is my gut feeling I am loathe to try such action in case the scenario gets deeper into the abyss PLEASE can anyone help Would be grateful thanks

That is correct you have thirty day to revert back starting for the date Windows 10 was installed. This will also depend if you did not tell they system to clean out the old file directory.

After the thirty days then you will have to do a factory restore.

Have you backed up your personal data?

Can be caused by several reasons.

Failing Hard Drive
Bad/Corrupt files
Some thing starting that does not work properly in Windows 10.
Malware, virus, etc…
Any combination.

Have you tried accessing the system via safe mode with networking?

To help find proper drivers for Windows 10 what is the make and model of the USB connector?

Let me get some one that knows Windows 10 better than I do. @Evan Omo
Thanks…

ok heres SOME progressand an update that may help someone assist me !

1 If I proceed to user screen option and log on as administrator I can access start/control panel and programmes list but they do not figure in alphabetical list at start of win 10 . I presume though that the update to win10 has kept themintact but I cannot access them There is a note though that if I get online they should appear in the task boxes or start list ? but of course cannot get online The programme list only gives me the option of deleting them /removing - but Iwant to load/or USE them!

searching for help in win10 forum it says that usb wifi adapters are mainly plug n play in win10 -strange thing the adapter worked in win 7 previously
Ihave tried insering in usb and then booting /triedinserting before entering admin password/ and finally inserting after start menu appears
Each way -the screen changes to a bluescreen that says Your pc has encountered an error and needs to restart–and then repeats all over again
This suggests to me that its a usb adapter hardware prob -or the usb socket on the pc ??? -though cannot understand as the wifi worked on win7 prior to upgrade

I have removed the tenda programme (as told tenda adaptor is p & Play but have cd with software on --but cant get to the point where it asks for it (have Disk)

Hope this info sheds some light on problem

Can see that docs/ excel /pictures/ and CAD drg files etc all look to be there so am wondering if you suggest
1 trying anotherUSB wifi adapter

and if that doesnt solve it --saVING ALL ABOVE FILES/DOCS/ETC to memory stick or disks and reformatting and doing a clean install
Extreme measures I wanted to avoid --but if all else fails …?!

Hope someone with more PC knowledge than me can help -but as I say Microsoft and Win 10 not my faves at moment and wished I`d left well alone!!
Thanks

If you have a backup of your data you could try a CLEAN install of Windows 10 which is always better than an upgrade. ALWAYS.

further update :-
Now got pc to boot with wifi usb inserted but on connections switch -it shows β€œflight mode” and then"go to settings" / internet connections
Imn read that there should be a left panel β€œflight mode switch” on/off --but there isnt!
presumably this ispreventing internet connection
But due to above -0how can I switch it OFF please
IF I can go online I can presumably check for updates including driversetc??

Any advice appreciated -thanks

Check and see if there is an on/off switch on the WiFi device.

Have you removed the drivers for the Tenda software? May be causing conflicts with the new WiFi device.

When you get to the login screen do you see the WiFi symbol or what looks like a airplane. If airplane click that and select the WiFi signal you wish to connect to.

Another thing to try is connect via a cable directly to the modem and see if it makes a connection. This way we can see if it is a ten issue or USB device issue.

Hi crackerjack. I’ll wait and see what Rusty is having you do to see if you can successfully connect to the Internet.

If you can, see if you can connect to the Internet using an Ethernet cable instead of a wireless connection at least in the short term.

If you haven’t yet, install the driver for your wireless USB device located here, Tenda W311M Driver. Choose the Windows 10 download link and see if that works.

hi evan
things moving slowly forward
yes used powerlinks and got online
used a iobit site to update some drivers and most things working after a 22min boot
firefox keeps disappearing from alphabetical list though
insering my wireless adapter causes a blue screen error reboot

in addition if I USE CCLEANER I can see all progs that I had in Win 7pro
How do I get them into the alphabetical start list though I have found I can access them by searching a file /cad drawing/ spreadsheet that I know was used and then I can get the programme to open it --and then use the prog to do new work --but it seems like accessing the prog via the back door
particularly the cad prog still functions in win 10 so whilst it aint the norm Im still functional had a slight prob with no sound -but thats sorted now so at moment a little more optimistic as problem boxes being gradually ticked off but any additional advice welcome and appreciated

If you want to make sure that all your programs are showing up in the Start Menu, you can see if installing StartIsBack will show you all the programs on your system just like in Windows 7.
insering my wireless adapter causes a blue screen error reboot
Wait, so installing the driver that I linked to in my previous post and rebooting the machine causes a blue screen to occur? What does the error message of the blue screen say?
