CPU - Ryzen 9 5900X
GPU - NVIDIA 1080
Drivers - newest Geforce
I’m having pretty consistent crashes playing games. I believe it MIGHT be related to DirectX 11, as games like Final Fantasy 14 and DCS crash constantly, but not games like Rainbow Six Siege when running under Vulkan. Since the crashes started, I’ve replaced my CPU, PSU, done RAM tests that came clean, and have replaced my cooling system / added more airflow. I have also reset windows entirely (Including formatted partitions) and upgraded to Win 11. I have also opened my graphics card and replaced the thermal paste. Nothing has fixed the crashing.
When I crash, my displays both go dark and I hear the Windows disconnected/reconnected device sounds. Then my displays turn back on and half the time my PC hangs (i.e. I can move my mouse but no program opens, computer is frozen) When I don’t hang most games give me a DirectX error. This has happened before and after all things done above, including wiping of all hard drive partitions and a fresh windows install.
If you need me to run tests or give logs, link me on how to do so and I will provide said logs.
I do have some logs I can attach here. I went to the NVIDIA forums first and someone told me to try DDU and installing an earlier version of the drivers, I did. They told me to run HSWinfo with 3DMark Firestrike running to get logs, I did. I have not heard back though. If needed I can provide those logs, I can also provide logs from Heaven 4 benchmark as that consistently reproduces the exact crash.
