Low FPS, Can't Find Out Why

Ok so I’m back.

This build is perfect, gets good frames from what I hear, like 150 in H1Z1, 250 in CSGO, and around 100 fps in PUBG. It apparently started 7 days ago, but now the fps is 60 in H1Z1, 120 in CSGO, and 30 fps in PUBG. I have had the person try pretty much everything I have thought of to fix it. I have check temps, everything looks normal, everything is working so to me it sounds like a software issue. This supposedly started 7 days ago, tsee are the things I have already tried.

• update drivers (every driver)
• system restore
• High performance mode
• OC the gpu temporarily using msi afterburner presets (basically resetting it)
• Uninstall nvidia geforce and reinstall
• Uninstall the games and reinstall
• made sure the monitor is plugged into the GPU
• disabled “fullscreen optimization” because of windows ink

That is everything I have tried, I have found no fix so far. I need your help.

Don’t believe all you read. You are getting around the right frame rates for your build.
2133Ghz Ram is slow by DDR4 standards.
The CPU is slow compared to what Processors are available now.
Your Mobo is restricting you from buying really high speed Ram, and only two Dimm slots.
The Mobo won’t accept faster Ram than 2133Ghz, that’s a bummer.
I still would run MemTest 86 regardless.
Have a read here about different brands of Ram perform better in benchmarks.

I ran memtests on the mobo last month and it passed with 0 errors. I get that it isn’t the best computer, but to go from 100 fps on all low settings in PUBG one week to 30 fps on all low settings in PUBG the next week doesn’t sound like it’s the right frame rates for the specs… these specs should be pushing at around the fps it was doing before…

I don’t think the person that owns the computer knows how to do that and nor do I… I thought that the gpu vm was already at 8gbs

He told me he has never gotten that type of warning message as far as low memory, but can this change on its own? Because again, he said about a week ago this started happening.

Hi coolhandluke. Looking at your temperatures everything looks normal so the system should not be throttling to prevent overheating.

On Windows 10 the Virtual Memory setting that Dougie posted, should be set to System Managed Size so let Windows handle this setting as there is little reason to change it.

Lets make sure there is no corruption in the file system.

Click Start< type Command Prompt in the Start search box, right click on Command Prompt and click on Run as administrator. After the Command Prompt window opens, type chkdsk C: /r and hit enter. Type Y to confirm that you want to schedule a Check Disk to run on the next restart. After the Check Disk has been scheduled, close the Command Prompt window and reboot the computer to allow Check Disk to run.

Then lets see what is starting up with your machine.

Please download Autoruns. After you download the zipped folder on your desktop, right click the zipped folder and click Extract All. After the folder has been extracted open the regular folder. Run the autoruns.exe program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When you open the program, click the Logon Tab and then post a screenshot of all the startup entries on the Logon Tab in your next reply.

Ok, I will have to do all this stuff tomorrow because right now the person is asleep and I had them download teamview so I can remote in and see if I can maybe search around for a fix… yes I know teamviewer, it’s temporary.

I don’t think I can reboot his computer and keep the teamviewer runbing but right now I’m running passmark benchmark with hwmonitor and msi afterburner up to see if his cpu and gpu utilization is on the fritz also to check more in depth into temps.

Ok so the benchmark just finished and these are the results as well as the hwmonitor info and the msi afterburner info (you can somewhat see the msi afterburner info better for the amount of time it was running during the benchmark)

I don’t see anything that is saying he is getting low memory warnings… so far in the past 30 minutes I have been remoted into his computer I have not had anything pop up about memory warnings…

I do agree but unless the virtual memory settings were changed, keeping the setting for allowing Windows 10 to manage the size of the virtual memory pool is going to be the preferred setting.

Having someone use an incorrect value for the Custom Virtual Memory setting could cause unpredictable behavior and introduce more variables with the computer.

Allowing Windows to manage the Virtual Memory will ensure in most cases that the user won’t run out of Virtual Memory as Windows can increase the size of the pagefile if it needs to.
