What you need to think about is either you re install windows when a problem happens - normally after a windows update
or a driver update.
So if you have an external drive you can make a system image of where you have it all working correctly.
Then with an issue you restore the system image.
Each time you add a new program you make a new image.
You can have more then 1 system image.
thanks again for reopening this. i hope i didnt jump the gun too early and have it opened for nothing.
everything was fine for the last week and then friday it crashed once. the only change that happened to the pc was i installed vlc media player earlier in the day.
its been a little over 24hrs since the crash and no further problems.
Steam is also causing problems.
This could be a corrupted steam install or a corrupt windows install.
Step 1. Type cmd in the search box, and then right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click on Yes to access CMD with admin rights.
Step 2. Type the sfc /scannow command in the elevated command prompt and hit Enter. After that, the tool will scan and try to repair the corrupted system files automatically.
Step 3. If the SFC command was unable to repair corrupt system files, you can try running the following DISM commands:
[ul]
[li]DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth[/li][li]DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth[/li][li]DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth[/li][/ul]
Step 4 Run windows update.
Try the above steps first. From Here
