Ok, here’s the autorun after deleting all the recommended entries. As for outside advice, beyond just reapplying thermal paste, I have no plans to do anything else until we have run through all options here.
I have not had any issues since wednesday: no major crashes have occurred while playing games including huntdown and doom eternal nor while browsing the internet and being on discord.

Glad to hear this as before going to the time, trouble and expense of replacing the thermal compound we should determine if it is actually needed.

Autoruns looks good now so what I suggest is that we leave well alone now and you continue to use the PC as you normally would as that is the best way to test it.

In addition to the above, be sure to create a new system restore point before installing any new updates or programs and hard as it may be disregard any suggestions that you may get advising you that there is/are new drivers available.

See how things go between now and the weekend and if all is still well on Sunday only then will we consider the issue/s resolved.

Alright, after making the changes, I made the mistake of turning off my pc. I’m running into the issue again of the keyboard and mouse not working once Windows is running. Here’s a video of me starting up the pc

.
I will note that after about 5 minutes of sitting at the initial Windows screen, the keyboard lit up but still would not register any buttons.
Last time this happened, I had to do a restore point. The last restore point I’ve done was on 11/27/20 before I removed ASUS Sonic Studio 3 (audio program). I will hold off on doing any restoring (and using the pc) until I hear back in this thread.

While I haven’t had any of the crashing issues that initially brought me here since last Wednesday, I had been avoiding running games/programs that I know caused such crashes. If we want to test whether any of the changes made have worked, I can spend time on Friday running such games and programs.

I’m currently posting this from an alternate computer I have.

Thank you for all the help!

PS.
Also, is there a way to load up the option to do restore points prior to reaching the windows login? I’m not sure why sometimes it triggers and sometimes it does not.

Looks like the required drivers are either missing or just not being loaded for one reason or another, no USB devices being detected being most likely.

Once you have the keyboard and mouse working again.

Download and run DriverView which you can get from here

Save the results to text and attach to your next reply for us if you will.

Windows needs to load before you can normally access the system restore points and abnormally by forcibly bringing up the Windows (RE) by restarting the computer a couple of times before Windows has loaded.

You are welcome

Hey Phil. I can’t take these steps until later tonight, but here’s what I’m planning to do. Let me know if anything sounds off.
1. Do the 11/27/20 restore point so that keyboard and mouse works.
2. Do not redo any of the steps from the past posts, including clearing the ASUS stuff and Autorun changes
3. Run DriverView and post here

The only other thing I can think of doing is uninstalling each of the two ASUS programs separately while restarting the computer in-between to see which one’s removal causes the lack of keyboard/mouse support in windows. Would that help at all?

Thank you.

Hello BroseidonR,

Being that you have not had any repeat of the initial problem for over a week I can see no harm in doing the above three steps, what I would also do though is post a DriverView log before you use the system restore point, we can then cross reference the two logs to see if there are any missing drivers in the second log.

I’m not sure I can even load windows to get to the point where I can install and run DriverView unless I do the restore. I’ll try though.

Try forcibly bringing up the Windows (RE) by restarting the computer a couple of times before Windows has loaded but instead of using a restore point try Safe Mode and then starting Windows normally if you have to.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as I have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed, thanks.

Ok, I’ll try the Safe Mode into getting the drivers before doing Restore, then restore and getting the drivers again. I will stop at that point and do nothing else until further instruction.
If Safe Mode does not work for some reason, I will Restore to get the driver list and then stop.

Ok. I tried to start up the computer in Safe Mode twice: once using the Safe Mode Option and the other using the Safe Mode with Networking option. Both brought me to the windows login screen but the keyboard and mouse did not work. I had to use the Restore Point to get access again. Here is the DriverView after the Restore Point.

At this point, I can wait for you to get back to me with any results you find so far. I could also try repeating some of the steps we’ve already taken and see whether doing them one at a time makes a change:
1. I could ONLY make the Autorun changes again (leave alone ASUS Radar and Sonic Studio) and then do another DriverView File.
2. I could try uninstalling either ASUS Radar or Sonic Studio and restart the computer to see if the uninstallation of one of them or both is causing the keyboard and mouse issues.

I will avoid using the computer (including running programs that have a high chance of causing crashes) besides leaving it on until I hear the go ahead to from you. Thank you for your help.

The generic keyboard and mouse drivers are installed as are the required USB drivers.

Because this is going off topic we need you to properly test the PC to see if it crashes, if all is well we will then need to you to start a new thread regarding the disappearing mouse and keyboard issue.

Go back to leaving the PC in stand by when not in use and do as much gaming as you have time for to see if the computer stays stable.

Night 1: Tried playing Gunfire Reborn while streaming and recording using StreamLabsOBS, computer immediately began to stutter and slowdown while on the title screen of the game. managed to get Task Manager up at one point and it said CPU was at 100%, but couldn’t see any program that was using 100% of the CPU. After a restart, tried playing first Gunfire Reborn and then Hades while streaming only to Discord and was able to play games for about 2 hours. Will continue tomorrow.

Sorry but should have said to just stick to gaming and no streaming etc, this will help us to rule in or out your hardware being the issue. by doing the above you are bringing too many variables into the equation as in streaming, the VPN, the OBS program and last but not least your actual internet connection.

Something for you to do to see how your present set up handles video when not online gaming, streaming and recording;

Use the free versions at the following links;

Stress test your GPU with Furmark

Check your FPS etc with SUPERPOSITION

Here’s the result of a short non burn-in Furmark run at the 1080 preset. Is there a particular option you want me to run? I’ll run SUPERPOSITION tomorrow
