Is there a hard drive attached and is it recognized in the BIOS?
Are the data (to the drive and controller) and power cables connected and snug?
What is the make and model?
If yes to the first two questions then lets see if Ubuntu see the drive as well.
Boot to Linux and open Terminal and type the following command the press Enter (you can copy and paste the command).
Copy and Paste the information into a posthwinfo --diskComment

All connections are good. The DVD drive does show in the BIOS. I will try connecting the HD to the DVD cables and see what happens. I also tried connecting an external HD via USB and it did work. I hope resetting the BIOS works.Originally posted by RustysYes
