Nice Computer, Crap FPS

So I built a computer for a friend and he said that he is getting horrible fps in the game that he plays (H1Z1)… his specs are these exactly:

He says he is playing on all low settings, low render distance and is getting 50 fps… anyone know what could be up?

I don’t know how to close the thread, but thank you for your help!

I actually fixed the problem last night like 3 hours after I posted it. The new computer had Windows 10… I changed a couple of things to the computer before seeing if it had fixed the problem so it’s one of these three if not all of these three, solutions.

1. I turned the Xbox Game DVR off in the RegEdit for Windows 10.
2. He has a 144hz monitor that was set to 60hz so I switched that to 144hz.
3. I turned the computer into High-Performance mode, which was set at Balance Mode.

Either way one of those three seem to fix the fps issue. I personally think it is the Game DVR thing that is in Windows 10 (apparently that has caused a lot of problems for a lot of people’s builds). Thank you again for the quick response.

So his issues has arisen again… He is getting roughly 32 fps somehow on all low settings and a render distance of 500 in the game H1Z1 with a 1070.. I have no idea how. Please Help

Little Update, I had him install the latest drivers for the nvidia 1070 and he is now getting 104 fps (stable) instead of 32 fps (stable)… it is an improvement but a 1070 on h1z1 should not be pushing out only 104 fps on 500 render distance at low settings. Any idea what it could be?

Higher FPS more than 60 does not make a difference in gaming. It will be smooth regardless of the FPS as long as it at or above 60 FPS

I mean “technically” it does depending on the monitor you have. That being said, he uses an ASUS VG248QE monitor at 144hz… however, he has a 1070 and is playing a game on all low settings and is only getting 104 fps stable (he messaged me today saying that it is hovering around 90-100). I mean heck, I have a AMD Radeon 7850 2GB graphics card and for csgo I run all low settings and I push out around 300 FPS. On H1Z1 I don’t remember how much I get but I know its around 200… and I have an i5-3570k… he has an i5-6500k. Does that not sound weird?

It says his mem is clocked at 4006 mhz… is that way to high/low? Do I need to change that in the BIOS?

Hi Luke. Have you tried Performing a clean boot in Windows and seeing if that makes any difference?

Are any components being overclocked?

Did you update the motherboards BIOS to the latest version?

No, not tried a clean boot, do you mean safe mode? or is there an actual thing called a clean boot. If yes, how do I do that.

No, nothing is overclocked, dude doesn’t know how to do that, and I don’t know how to do that (/i don’t trust myself enough to overclock)

I believe it is updated to the latest version, how would I go about updating the BIOS?

Awesome, I’ll definitely try that. For the clean boot, what tests should I run that would give me the right info to give you to guys? And for the motherboard BIOS update, would that just download to the computer and install like a normal program or would I need to download the update to a flashdrive and ‘flash’ the BIOS or something (which I don’t know how to do). Thanks for your reply!
