Have to reconnect my mouse every time I start up my computer
Hi, I have a small problem with my mouse. Every time I turn on my computer I have to disconnect and then reconnect my mouse back in USB port to have it to work. I’m using Westrom (model: May) wireless mouse. It wasn’t like that in the beginning, so I’d really appreciate your help.
Thank you for your suggestions. I tried changing USB ports and it seems to be working. I have to test it though in the coming days to be sure because sometimes it works as it would normally.
I have a laptop, which has 2 USB ports on the left side which I’m using the most and one in the back. My mouse doesn’t have batteries, it can be charged with a USB cable.
I’ve never had such a problem, so I was thinking I would have to reinstall mouse drivers or something. Could you be more specific as to how I can search for an error to make the faulty USB port work correctly again? ???
So I tested the second USB port, it worked a couple of times since I created my post, but today when I turned on my laptop, it was the same problem again. There are no exclamation marks in Device Manager either…
and when you do reconnect the mouse to get it working, does it then stay working until the next reboot?
have you tried other devices in the USB ports - a printer, webcam, external drive, USB keyboard, even another mouse - to see if they also have the same issue.
Yes, I have no other problems with my mouse. I connect an external drive from time to time but there have been no problems with it, tough I haven’t left it plugged until the next reboot like I do with my mouse.
I purchased it at a supermarket, I searched for its manufacturer on the internet and I found nothing but apart from this small issue the mouse is working just fine.
Lets start with getting some basic system information.
Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.
Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.
To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:
In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
c:\ drive down to 5%.
while probably no connection, Windows does start doing weird stuff when space is critical.
so reclaiming some space wouldn’t hurt.
Actually I think I had a virus, this was a while ago, and you guys in this forum helped me to get my laptop fixed, though this problem remained, that is, when I restart it, I have enough space and with time it fills up by itself. So I don’t know if anything can be done here.
I don’t think I have tried other mice on this laptop. Though I have used this mouse on my old laptop and I don’t remember having had problems with it.
