Monitor Loses Connection when playing games

Hello,

so when i start playing a game at random time while playing either at the main menu or in the middle of the game my monitor will loose connection (and half the time i hear fans run louder when the monitor looses connection continuously) and the only way for it to turn back on is if i shutdown or restart my PC. the odd thing is i have found a game which is highly demanding were i have played for 4 hour + and no monitor issue at all but other games i have played all end up with the issue.

i have tried updating everything e.g. windows, bios, drivers, did a clean DDU, took out and put back the GPU, tried different monitors, and cable mainly HDMI.
looked at task manager to see any changes to my hardware all seem normal and no drastic temp

i would say that when my monitor looses connection is that i do hear in game volume to a certain point and use keyboard keys to do the manual restart and shutdown.

i do own a old hp omen computer

Sorry but you have post on a tech forum asking for help but have provided zero information about your computer or it`s hardware, this makes it impossible for anyone to even hazard a guess as to what is going on.

Please provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the CPU, MB, the RAM (including the amount) add on video card if one is used and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable folk to better help you.

Sorry, should have asked what the game was that causes the problem.

A weak PSU is a possible contender as the cause, being a HP you can guarentee that the PSU will not be of good quality.

So the game that had issues with that I tried playing are GTA 5, mortal shell, genshin impact, all on high settings and the issue occurs within 2 hours of play or at start up

But game I didn’t have issue with are rdr 2 ark Survival evolved as these 2 game survived way past 4 hours of play on high settings

That is typical overheating behaviour, are you ok with working inside a computer if needs be.

Couple of things for you to do;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us if you will.

No worries about Speccy, give it a couple of days and if no problem let us know, alternatively, any problems, post the Speccy url and MTB log for us, good luck meanwhile.

Hello,
here are the speccy and MTB file

speccy:

the issue has came back as for the entire last 2 days i was completely fine up until last night when ones again the monitor went off, but i would like to add is that i had Spotify running in the background and i could still hear the songs playing, and another thing i forgot to mention is that very rarely when i open a browser or a video clip on full screen the monitor would go black for about a second or 2 then come back on again.

I would also like to add in my opinion is that like I mentioned before the fan don’t go fast at all when the issue occurs as it’s about 50 50 and depending on the game the fan will stay at high or low speed until I do a restart of the pc. Hope this gives more insight.

Problems that we can see in both Speccy and your MTB log.

Bitdefender is the biggest cause of your problems.

Windows Desktop manager is playing up, this could be being caused by Bitdefender or the below.

Nvidea drivers have also caused multiple issues.

Deal with BD first, see info below;

Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11.

If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

Bitdefender removal tools here

Once BD has been correctly uninstalled, restart the PC, check to see if Windows Defender has auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

Once done, restart, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update when you are ready.

Hello,

I’m shocked bitdefender is one of the issue causing this is there no way of turning of possible settings to fix issue or is it a must to uninstall it?. And is it possible if bitdefender is the cause might I not be able to use it again?

What can[ICODE]t speak can[/ICODE]t lie and BD is shown to be causing issues in the MTB log and in Speccy it is shown to be using nearly 50% of the RAM and choking the life out of the internet connection.

Process of elimination so either uninstall BD and see how things go for a day or so or keep it installed and live with any consequences, do keep in mind though that you were advised of the below in my reply #10;

Fwiw, Windows Defender is a better AV and Firewall than BD.

Post a new Speccy url for us, then leave replying again until you have used the PC for at least a day or so, any problems before that post a new Speccy url and MTB log for us.

Hello there the full scan is going to take some time possibly some hours, would you suggest doing the speccy during or after the scan?

Also I see a difference in my task manager now as before bitdefender used 400-500mb of memory and now I see only 100-250mb. Is the 400mb abnormal?
