    Computer starts lagging after a while

    My computer starts lagging after using for like 2-3 hours I’d say, everything starts lagging both audio and video.
    Took me a while to figure this out but as soon as I reconnect my mouse (pulling the usb out plugging it in again) it stops lagging for maybe 2-3 hours again.
    I have tried reconnecting my keyboard and other USBs instead but that does not help, it only helps when doing it with mouse.
    I quess my question is, why would that happen?

    I’m using a logitech g402 and it is almost 2 years old now

    While waiting for other to assist lets get some information.

    Have you tried a different mouse to see if the same thing happens?
    Could be starting to fail.

    The audio and video are those cd/dvd or online?

    What other USB inserts have you tried it with out them attached and just the moues and keyboard?

    Have you tried different ports?

    Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

    To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

    In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

    In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

    Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

    Speecy does not include the power supply information post the make and model

      I haven’t tried another mouse but I can do that soon.

      Games and videos in the browser even the desktop, pretty much everything lags.

      I’m currently only using a keyboard and mouse, no other USBs

      I have tried different ports and it didn’t make a difference.



      I’m unsure of the power supply

        The most pressing issue is the lack of free storage space on the SSD that Windows is installed on, the Power Profile also needs sorting.

        For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available as free storage space at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

        Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive, this also to avoid data corruption.

        Please note that storage devices can physically fail if the amount of free storage space is allowed to drop below the required 10 or 20/25% minimum.

        Uninstall as many unused programs, games, videos and music files as you can and get yourself another means of backing up to, post back when you have between 20 and 25% free storage on the C: drive/partition and we can go from there.

        Power Profile

        I suggest is that you change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, High Performance is a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues and the setting should only be used for gaming type notebooks that have a discrete GPU that needs the extra power.[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]

          Cleaned up a bit and have 65GB free, I also change the power profile to automatic.
          I’ll see if anything changed

            It was advised to change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced and because it is the most stable setting.

                Sorry for taking so long, I’ve been moving around a quite a bit and haven’t been able to test it too much.
                I tested it today though and it’s still the same.
                I am going to get a new mouse and try it

                      Now would be a good time to get rid of some of the multitude of drivers that you have installed for various keyboards and mice.

                      Windows is missing a fair few updates and by the time that you have installed them you will be back below 20% of free storage space which at 21% is getting low already;

                      You have high memory use for a computer that is not under any load, a cluttered HDD can cause this but it is more likely a combination of things.

                      Take care of the above suggestions then we will look at the memory use, that is more likely the cause of the performance issues.

                      Once you have gotten rid of all the surplus KB/mice drivers, freed up more space on the C: partition and got Windows fully up to date post back with a new Speccy url, please only post back when all of the above is done and there is as near to 25% free on the C: partition as possible.[/COLOR][/COLOR]

                        I tried getting rid of the drivers through the device manager by uninstalling them, most if not all of them came back after restart.
                        I updated Windows and removed some stuff from my SSD and it’s now at 64GB

                        I looked at what processes were running on the last speecy because of the high memory usage and found that EscapeFromTarkov.exe was taking like 3-4GB.
                        I must have left the game on in the background when taking the speccy snapshot

                          Looking better but how is the computer performing now.

                          Still high memory usage with a couple of possible causes;

                          RAM
                          Memory
                          Size: 16312 MBytes
                          Physical Memory

                          Is your RAM 2 Xs 8GB sticks or a single 16GB stick.

                          We can see Avast on the computer and it is shown to be having problems, this could be what is using the RAM, the once recommended free AV is so much of a resource hog that foists all sorts on folk that no one recommends it anymore only it owners, Windows Defender and Firewall are all that you need but there are better free AVs around than Avast should you want to use one.

                          Having more than one AV installed on your computer is bad, it will slow down the computer, cause internet connection problems and leave you with no AV protection at all if they cancel each other out as they fight for resources.

                          Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

                          If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

                          You can uninstall Avast in the Control Panel but should you have any problems see Avast clean removal info here [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]Please create a new system restore point first.
