    Did you make sure you followed the guide to allow the keyboard to wake the computer? Sometimes it’s disabled and if not enabled, will cause the issues you are experiencing.

    Follow this guide, method #3, to see if it fixes the issue at hand
    I’ll be in front of the pic shortly to give it a try and I’ll report my findings. Thanks (y)

    Do the Alienware units typically use cheap mother boards?

      Yes, it seems the mouse and keyboard are enabled to allow waking.

        Not always and you most certainly would not expect to find a cheap MB in an Alienware for the price that they cost, Dell though are one of the most common OEM brands to not have PS/2 ports on their MBs, silly imho as PS/2 ports are a godsend when troubleshooting USB port problems.

        Will hold off for now until jmarket gets back to you regarding the Microsoft article.

            Couple of suggestions clarkgriswold;

            Restore the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS and do the following steps;

            Download then run the Windows All in One Repair (free) from here, disregard the malware guidance but follow the other steps to the letter and in particular ensuring that you first create a new restore point and perform a proper Windows clean boot before running the repair, details for the clean boot here.

              I’m not sure how to do this.

                Which of the 3 steps don’t you know how to do?

                  Or, is this one in the same?

                    Dell guide here only do this if you have already tried the suggestion made by plodr and please create a new Windows restore point first.
