Really nothing on it except Opera browser…the thing can’t do much with it’s outdated OS.. It has been wiped once anyway by my daughter which was hers to start with.. I did read, this tab could be brought back from a bricking by installing the old version of android so you could start over again.. If it was bricked and it is not fixable i didn’t pay that much for it anyway, just wanted something to use while my wife was bogarting the main pc and not having to buy a laptop… So the offer still stands..
If you are using the tablet wifi only then you ease one of my worries. I agree that it is not very useful if you can’t do what you want. Wal Mart carries a tablet called NextBook that has the Android version 5 for about $80. I have bought 4 of them over the past year. One for myself and 3 as gifts. I added a 64 Gb micro SD card to it for the extra storage. If you don’t want to spend the extra money at this time then I will be more than glad to give it a go to help a friend. If you don’t still have my address shoot me a PM. I will do my best.

I am a big believer in repurposing older devices. Turning old PCs into NAS boxes and home servers. Using the older tablets as ebook readers. You have to realize that at some point there is a point of diminishing returns so at that point the device has outlived its usefulness. I just sent 170 pounds of old devices to the recyclers because they were beyond use. Just couldn’t see hanging on to those old MFM Hard drives and 36.6K modems.

Those nextbooks are the 8 inch ones right? I looked at one the other day while i was in wally world..
That is the one. Vger. They are wi-fi only but I have no need for an expensive data plan. For a tablet running an Atom processor they have a good battery life. A descent tablet.
Here is an update on Vger’s Samsung Galaxy Tab. After receiving the Tablet I (thru some research and plenty of head scratching) successfully installed ClockWork Mod recovery. This allowed me to flash a custom rom bringing the tablet forward to Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). After some testing for stability I can now give it a pass. It is time to send it home. I appears we got this little operation done just in time. Since the rom developers have lost interest in Vger’s particular tablet, finding the roms and files to root and flash it were becoming difficult. I had to back track on a lot of dead links. I found out that development stopped 3 year ago for the Sprint and Verizon models.
@vger When the tablet gets back to you there will be some setup to do. You will need to setup the Wi-Fi to your home network and setup your gmail account so you can use the Google Play Store. I would suggest getting the ES File Manager. When I reset the tablet to clear my profile, you lose any apps installed later. Be careful because the tablet is rooted so it is not as child proof as before. If you need further help just ask.
