    suggests that it is the use of the computer that has been depleting the battery.

    Only way to test the theory is by disconnecting the charger and using the notebook on battery power only but only for the type of use that the computer is designed for and with the HP or Balanced Power Plan setting.

      You can try it but only using the Windows Balanced Power Plan and reason being is that not using it will not only heat things up inside the computer and run the battery down when there is no discrete notebook video chip it also messes with the cores on the processor and this can lead to all sorts of problems that you don`t ned or want.
