High graphics usage and temperature in task manager

Hi,
these are my specs: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/E...5eAieDhrOFV4Mt
6gb rtx 3060

so, for some reason, some games throttle my gpu to 70% or above usage almost immediately. I tried Baldur’s gate 3, and it instantly took gpu temperature (checking in taskmanager) to 80" with 100% gpu usage, I tried chessarama (its not that high spec game), and it also used over 70% of gpu and the temperature instantly went to 70 and above.

is this common? I play league of legends or warm snow, but they never took my gpu temperature so high.

I put it in turbo mode when I tried these games and the fans were moving really fast.

We need the exact model name or number of the notebook.

Some observations regarding Speccy;

Windows was installed a little over a month ago but the install was not done correctly.

You have a second screen hooked up, this can increase the internal temps on a desktop by up to 10 °C and a notebook type computer significantly more.

The Windows Power Plan needs to be set to High Performance on notebooks that have discrete graphics else the dedicated chip does not get the power that it needs.

I don’t know what this means. I got the laptop about a month or so ago. Its new one, the windows came preinstalled. Is there a way to correct it?

It is set at high performance, since I use it in direct line and not battery.

Then your first point of contact should have been to open a ticket with whoever sold you the computer, you are limited as to what you can do without voiding your warranty,

Your link is not working.

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.
The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.

** For OEM computers/notebooks such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo etc you must only download drivers from their support page, OEMs may sometimes redirect users to a third party site such as AMD or Nvidea to obtain the latest drivers for their GPUs, this tends to be for high end gaming notebooks and desktops though.

Whoever installed Windows on this computer has no clue what they are doing because instead of installing the chipset drivers first they installed a Windows update followed by a display driver.

sorry. you are right. But when I go to power sleep and battery settings through the search, it opens settings logo and then the page closes by itself. I can go to the option through right clicking battery tho. but there is only balanced option in change advanced settings.

The notebook must have a brand name or model number.

Click on the Change advanced power settings option.

advanced power settings show this only.

and not sure the issue, but I can’t access settings page directly sometimes without going through control panel. Like in this case, I can’t open power sleep and battery settings through the search button. It gives a page which loads the settings logo and closes almost immediately.

So they have this control center app which was pre installed when I got the laptop. It has battery in high capacity.

None of their links work which is suspect

Your screenshot is not the same power plan, it is more of a gimmick and is in fact meant to be a power saving mode intended to make the battery last longer by reducing power to the hardware.

Its quite late here, but I had sent a message earlier and the guy messaged back saying the site might be down for a week.

its the first time I am buying oem. I got it in a little bit more discounted price than other brands, and also saw lot of reviews in their pages and google, so ordered it. In the power options through control panel, can’t see any options other than balanced in advanced power settings. Is there a way to make it show other options?

The guy also said that they didn’t have latest drivers for windows11 version 23h2 and that they will receive drivers for it by monday from their motherboard supplier. I think my windows update changed the version to 23h2, not sure about it actually.

not sure if this is virus or some bug. but this happened since about few weeks ago where I can’t access settings.

I can access settings home page and some other settings from there, but when I click power sleep and battery settings, the page closes automatically. I think there are some other settings that I can’t access too. I am not sure if it is related to me disabling some services to speed up the windows (had made thread about it and followed the guideline there. also disabled services using O&O app.

Selling unsupported hardware is not only disgraceful it is technically illegal as they are selling you something that is not fit for purpose, look at your Speccy info below;

The reason why the hardware is unknown is because Windows 11 cannot communicate with it because of the lack of compatible chipset drivers etc.
