    Deleting everything from pc

I have a lenovo ideapad 310 15-ABR and I want to delete all my information from it. I want to donate it to my local school because of all the home schooling children are having. I have been given various instructions but unable to do them as the required button/ app etc not on my laptop. Please remember I am over 60 and not too good with this stuff. Yhanks to everyone in advance.

Hello @Dilcia and welcome to PCHF

If you’re running Windows 10, there’s an easy method to do this.

    [ol]
[li]Open Settings.[/li][li]Click on Update & Security.[/li][li]Click on Recovery.[/li][li]Under the β€œReset this PC” section, click the Get started button.[/li][/ol]

    Code:
       5. Click the [B]Remove everything[/B] option.
Once the computer reboots a few times it will have a clean install of Windows ready to go for the next user with everything wiped.

I have been told to do this but I don’t have Update and Security in settings. Where will it be?

so when you click Start, then Settings (the cog icon), you then don’t see Update & Security?
you can’t be running Windows 10 then?
        what is your Operating System?

Hi, it is Windows 10 and I found the control panel and it has System and Security and in that is Security and Maintenance. In that is Recovery and in that are 3 things Create a recovery drive, Open system restore and configure system restore. Which should I use?

You need to scroll down or maximize the windows to find it.

On the side of your Laptop there is a tiny hole with this image [ATTACH type=β€œfull” alt=β€œScreenshot 2020-10-17 195120.png”]7017[/ATTACH] . This is the NOVO button.
Shut down your Laptop, and insert one paperclip (or the tool used to reset a smartphone). The Laptop will start, and will present a menu.

Select Recovery and proceed from that.
