    Bloatware

As we all know, new Pc’s come with a lot of bloatware that we will never use. Is Decrap My Computer a safe program or would another free program work better. Thanks in advance for your usual great responses.

You should be able to go under Program and Features and remove the bloat ware just like any other program.

Rustys, you are correct but HP puts so much bloat on their laptops, I was wondering if there was an easier way and to not delete something useful by mistake.

Easy and safe usually don’t go together. First I make the restore/recovery DVDs.

I look at all the programs then I start googling. I decide what I can safely remove and use Revo to uninstall. Meanwhile I have a large index card with notes on what I remove.

After I’m sure the computer works and I have gotten rid of the useless software, I make an image of a cleaned up computer.
If I had to restore now, I’d use that rather than the factory restore I created earlier.

You are welcome and have I heard of Decrap My Computer both good and bad for this program. Yet you can always find that depending on how deep and where you look.

I have to agree with @plodr.

The old trusted The PC Decrapifier has never let me down with several brands of laptops including HP, and as also linked above Should I Remove It? has great reliable information on anything you are uncertain about. As per Plodr’s advice image the computer first and you can’t go wrong.

PS: If you really want to clean it after the above, ask Mal if he would take a look at maybe running a scan, because there’s bound to be lots of tasks and stuff running, serving no purpose other than to bog the machine down. This residual junk can be easily removed as well.

As @gus says, I would be happy to look over the machine once you get it. Then we can get it into top shape!!

Mal, I am going to get new laptop up and running this weekend (or maybe Monday). What would I need to do for you to look over the machine?
