    Thank you both but need to remind members of forum rules;
    1. Do not send Private Conversations, email, or post comments on PCHF Staff profiles for support unless seeking help with site navigation. If you have a technical issue, please post it in the forums.

    Helpers deserve a break and should only ever be contacted personally as a last resort or as Bruce has done to reopen the OPs thread.

        I did inform the op that we can’t help via private conversations that is why I asked Bruce to reopen the thread.

        No worries but like I said Peter helpers need a break you included, you are aware of the rules and dont need reminding, unlike 99.99% of members that have never read them.

        Fwiw, members should be advised to ask an appropriate staff member if they would like their thread to be reopened, too many times has a helper contacted a Mod etc on behalf of a member only for the said member to never come back, helpers should not be compromised in such a way.

          I suggest you go to a site like partpickers and pick what you think you need and can afford.
          Then post a link here and ask what the hardware people think.
          @Bruce @Pyro any suggestions on the above motherboards

            Full disclosure, I’m a long term Gigabyte fan, so for me it would come down to;
            [ul]
            [li]price[/li][li]features - what I need now: number of USB ports, type of mobo slots, onboard GPU, etc[/li][li]future proofing - what is emerging: DDR5, USB-C, PCI gen 4, processor socket, immersion cooling, etc[/li][/ul]

              The motherboard choices nowadays are pretty much all the same, it just matters which skin you like the most.

              I am an ASUS proponent as they have treated me well in RMA matters and seem fairly competitive in terms of price/performance.

              Gigabyte is fine, they’re not my favorite units but I have looked before- make sure it has the adequate number of internal fan headers, as well as things being placed well for your GPU’s length (think about USB-C headers/RGB that might be in line with the card).

              Something to think on- check the QVL for Memory and Storage, I had an ASRock board that would only recognize some sorts/brands of NVMe memory- due to this I strongly recommend against them.

              Otherwise, MSI, EVGA, etc- just don’t buy a cheap board, 140 should get you somewhat close to the mid-range.

                +1 on the price issue - you get what you pay for.
                I tend to go mid-range, or slightly above, and quite often I have bought something and luckily found the mobo had the port, or spare slot, or whatever on it that I needed.
                Cheaper boards tend not to.

                      No worries.
                      Was there anything else you were after or shall we close this thread?

                        I think the op would like an opinion on which of the two boards he should buy.

                          One is white the other is black, just order whichever one fits your aesthetic and budget and forget about it.

                          Internal and external headers are almost identical- both boards are from the same manufacturer at the same price point.

                            If the choice is only those two - flip a coin, they are that close.
                            As said, as long as they have the ports/slots you need, are compatible with your current gear, and are in budget - get either.
