    No Signal with GPU Installed

I’ve repurposed a computer. Upgraded ram and HD. Newer GPU was working pre-upgrade. Now:
    • black screen through startup connected to the onboard graphics. can’t get into bios or safemode.
    • remove the gpu and everything works as it should using the on board
    • with the gpu installed: no signal from the vga port, eventual signal from the hdmi port
    • reset cmos
    • deleted gpu, reinstalled drivers, looked for updates, everything is current

This is a crap computer for my kid to play Genshin and Zelda on. So the specs are all within range and this was supposed to be budget friendly.
    Thanks for any help

Also the recommended psu wattage is 300 watts.

Not all new parts work in old systems.

just because it says 300 does not mean that it can produce that.

what connection does the monitor have
You say you can’t get connection.
Then you say you get hdmi.

Yes, but not until it’s at the login screen.

does this give you access to the bios
Click the Start menu and select Settings.
                              Select Update and Security.
                              Click Recovery.
Under Advanced startup, click Restart now. …
                              Select Troubleshoot.
                              Choose Advanced options.
                              Select UEFI Firmware Settings.
Click Restart to restart the system and enter UEFI (BIOS).
